EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: GA LPC OR GA LCSW NEED ONLY APPLY. LICENSE ELIGIBLE/LAPC WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSTwo years of clinical experience with a minimum of one year experience in residential treatment
QUALIFICATIONS:Expresses a desire to work with emotionally disturbed adolescents in residential treatment setting; can give personal and professional rationale for desire to work in such a position that is consistent with agency mission; exhibits sense of compassion and empathy for population served; has high stress tolerance; can describe self as flexible and dependable. Excellent personal and professional boundaries.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:Commitment to team and group process; can express thoughts and ideas in cogent fashion both verbally and in writing; well organized; able to manage multiple tasks; focused; able to prioritize responsibilities; sensitive to cultural differences; comfortable dealing with a diverse workplace; able to provide direct, constructive counseling to subordinates as well as ability to reinforce positive qualities of subordinates; ability to adapt to changing circumstances; ability to foster and support team environment, providing direction and leadership as needed. Required clinical skills include a knowledge of counseling techniques for groups and individuals, an ability to utilize techniques as well as ability to train clinical and non-clinical staff to utilize techniques; knowledge of clinical standards for reporting and documentation; a working knowledge of adolescent psychopathology and the DSM IV; knowledge and ability to apply the principles of behavioral therapy and progressive discipline; ability to formulate and evaluate treatment objectives and to write individual treatment plans. May be required to physically restrain residential clients; must have a valid Georgia Driver’s License.
ACCOUNTABILITY:Assure that the treatment milieu is therapeutic and consistent with the principles of progressive discipline and behavioral therapy; assure that treatment services are delivered in a manner that is consistent with agency and program operational policies. Accountable for the facilitation and support of a team environment in the residential environment.
Responsibilities:
1.Supervision and evaluation of Clinician, Care Manager, Shift Supervisors and Youth Service Workers, as needed.
Performance Standards:
Supervision and evaluation of Clinician, Care Manager, Shift Supervisors and Youth Service Workers will be rated satisfactory when the following standards are met:
?Assure that all staff are interacting with residents in a manner consistent with therapeutic assessment milieu.?Quarterly evaluations of staff demonstrate a thorough review of performance as well as clear documentation of areas needing improvement.
?Assure that all staff are interacting with residents in a manner consistent with agency operating procedures.?Documentation of supervision sessions demonstrate the provision of clear guidance regarding clinical appropriateness and agency operating procedures.
?Assure that all staff are utilizing principles of progressive discipline.?Random review of documentation of use of NVPCI and BCR by shift staff members reflects progressive use of discipline.
?Assure that documentation by all staff is accurate, specific, and in accordance with agency operating procedures.?Random review of documentation by staff members indicates that members’ documentation is accurate, specific, and in accordance with agency operating procedures.
?Provide regular one-on-one clinical supervision to supervisees. ?Random view of documentation of clinical supervision sessions indicates they are occurring regularly and that staff members are receiving clinical guidance.
?Ensure adherence of policies and procedures concerning use of BCR.?Receive notification from Unit Managers of BCR placements in accordance with appropriate time frames as stated in policies and procedures. Review BCR Log for accurate documentation and to obtain appropriate psychological/psychiatric approval.
?Assure that all interventions and documentation are solution-oriented and family focused.?Random reviews of interactions and documents reflect solution oriented and family focused interventions.
2. Modeling and teaching appropriate and
respectful interpersonal behavior.
Performance Standards:
Interpersonal behavior will be rated satisfactory when the following standards are met:
?Demonstrate respectful attitude toward residents and coworkers at all times. ?Communications with coworkers and clients is marked at all times by courtesy, absence of profanity, mannerly conduct and strict personal and professional boundaries.
?Appropriately confront residents and coworkers when potentially harmful or destructive behavior occurs.?Confrontation with coworkers and clients is marked by calm, even tone of voice and tactful, non-hurtful language.
?Maintain positive attitude at all times toward residents and coworkers.?A positive attitude toward coworkers and clients will be demonstrated when job responsibilities are carried out with energy and enthusiasm, open, honest communication and respectful listening.
?Conduct mediation between Unit Managers as needed to resolve interpersonal conflict.
?Documentation on supervision notes reflects conflict mediation as needed.
3. ClinicalPerformance Standards
Clinical interventions will be rated satisfactory when the following conditions are met:
?Oversee the implementation of Assessment program based on residents’ specific needs. ?BIRP documentation indicates that residents are participating, as needed, in individualized Assessment program.
?Provide individual counseling to residential clients as needed.?Individual counseling documentation reflects an understanding of residents’ needs and of therapeutic interventions that help facilitate personal growth.
?Facilitate group-counseling sessions as needed.?Supervisory monitoring reflects a thorough understanding of group process and of the use of appropriate and effective therapeutic interventions.
?Provide crisis counseling to residential clients.?Documentation and supervisory monitoring reveal adeptness at de-escalating crises and defusing potential power struggles.
?Provide counseling to resolve conflicts between residents as well as between residents and staff members.?Documentation and supervisory monitoring indicate the capacity to provide effective mediation on the unit.
?Ensure compliance with resident Grievance Procedure in order to resolve conflicts between residents as well as between residents and staff members.?Documentation related to the Grievance procedure indicates the capacity to provide effective mediation on the unit.
?Attend pre-admission interviews to determine appropriate placements of potential residents.?Documentation and supervisor monitoring indicate a thorough review of all potential residents.
?Compile final assessment package.?Documentation reflects thorough and comprehensive assessment and recommendations.
?Present final assessment to appropriate persons.?Assessment reviews are held prior to discharge from program.
4. TrainingPerformance Standards:
Training responsibilities will be rated satisfactory when the following standards are met:
?Oversee unit orientation for Care Manager, Clinician and Youth Service Workers in Thershold.?Orientation checklists are on file in employee personnel files; curriculum completion is acknowledged by employee’s signature on Orientation Form.
?Review performance evaluations to determine individual clinical training needs for Youth Service Workers, Clinician, Care Manager and Shift Supervisors as needed.?Written assessments of employee clinical training needs are reported to the Clinical Director.
?Awareness of individual clinical training needs for Youth Service Workers, Clinician and Care Manager.?Individual clinical training needs are related in a timely fashion to Clinical Director.
?Conduct in-service training sessions for clinical and non-clinical staff on treatment related issues including but not limited to Assessment, adolescent development, group counseling skills, and family dynamics.
?In-service trainings are conducted as required and documented by employee signatures on training forms.
5.Participate in agency-wide collaborations in order to facilitate and assess client progress.
Performance Standards:
Participation in agency-wide collaborative relationships will be rated satisfactory when the following conditions are met:
?Actively participate in the following meetings as appropriate: Client staffings, supervision, service team, pre-admissions, agency wide staff meetings, peer supervision, and Assessment summaries.
?Coordinate with Clinical Director, consulting psychologist and psychiatrist, nurse, assigned teacher, care manager, YSW’s, and track therapist to ensure that individualized behavioral treatment program is aligned with team objectives and recommendations.
?Coordinator is present at all appropriate meetings as documented by attendance roster.
?Participation is marked by active involvement in meeting discussion; initiation of discussion about issues that pertain to clients; a cooperative attitude, a willingness to ask questions without being argumentative.
?Willingness to work as a team player in the facilitation of client assessments.
?Individual BIRP documentation indicates that there is congruence between individualized behavioral treatment program and service team recommendations.
?Provide facility tours and orientation to Board, Community and City Official members on as needed basis.?Provide visitors with an informal tour of The Bridge facility, introducing the mission and philosophy as requested by supervisor.
6. DocumentationPerformance Standards:
Documentation will be rated satisfactory when the following conditions are met:
?BIRP notes, individual counseling notes and group notes.?BIRP notes are legible, thorough and accurate. Notes reflect observation and evaluation of resident's behavior.
?Shift Log.?Shift log entries provide accurate and thorough description of activity and critical incidents during shift.
?Documentation of clinical supervision.?Documentation of clinical supervision provide accurate and thorough description of guidance and direction provided.
?Disciplinary documentation.?Documentation reflects progressive disciplinary action, as needed.
?Service Team Meetings.?Team meeting minutes are complete and placed in Service Team notebook in timely manner.
?Inter-departmental information will be distributed in memorandum form to all staff members effected. ?Notify all staff members in memo form of training, policy change, upcoming events or additional information.
7.Develop and support a team environment for all staff.
Performance Standards:
Team building responsibilities will be rated satisfactory when the following standards are met:
?Conduct a minimum of one Service Team meeting per week. Meetings are held to review client issues, safety needs of the community and the adjustment of staffing assignments according to client needs. ?Meeting minutes are filed in the log and indicate that Meetings are conducted regularly, are addressing individual resident issues, issues related to community safety and any issues affecting the smooth operation of the cottage.
?Meetings incorporate one mini-training per month on appropriate interventions with residents. Examples of Mini-trainings include: de-escalation techniques, basic counseling skills, progressive discipline, practice of NVPCI skills, review of agency operating policies, observation and assessment techniques.?Team meeting agendas and minutes indicate provision of one mini-training monthly.
?Assure that individual staff members have adequate opportunities for consultation and counseling on clinical aspects of job performance.
?Encourage a focus on assessment as the primary agenda for staff.?Unit Manager and Youth Service Workers are well informed regarding client status and client needs. Staff members are well informed regarding protocol and agency operating policy as indicated on pre- and post- training scores.
?Provide "On-Call" services to shifts to report N.V.P.C.I., residential facility damage and resident critical incidents.?Provide on-call rotation for the facility to provide assistance, direction, and receive notification of facility/residential emergencies. Make reports to Clinical Director and ORS.
8.Administrative Performance Standards:
Team building responsibilities will be rated satisfactory when the following standards are met:
?Facilitate Supervision Meetings on a regular basis.?Supervisor Meeting will be recorded in the form of meeting minutes. These minutes will be provided to the Clinical Director.
?Development and implementation of Facility Policy and Procedures as needed.?Policies and Procedures are developed or updated as requested.
?Review all resumes submitted for potential employment on the Threshold unit.
?Conduct interviews with qualified applicants and provide feedback to Human Resource staff.
?Provide disciplinary counseling to Threshold staff as needed. Terminate residential staff as deemed appropriate in conjunction with Human Resource staff.?Collaboration with Human Resources.
?Documentation of disciplinary protocol reflects compliance with policy and procedures.
?Review unit timesheets for accuracy and approve submitted overtime requests across shifts. Approve Supervisory Leave requests.?Documentation of time and leave sheets reflects compliance with policy and procedure.
?Participate in Leadership Meetings.?Active involvement in meetings and willingness to serve on task force and subcommittee as appropriate.
9.Threshold Coordinator is responsible for carrying out any job related responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.?The Threshold Coordinator performs all duties assigned.
