Technical Support for Web Applications

Higher Education Practice of MAXIMUS, Inc. has an immediate need for a Technical Support contractor position available in its Northbrook, Illinois office. This position involves running SQL to validate and troubleshoot data integrity, testing new functionalities and fixes, and providing email and/or phone supports to the client. This person will have the opportunity to work with Oracle database, program in HTML, and involve in formal testing environments and release management for enterprise system development. Good communication and writing skills are required. Knowledge of graphical user interface design principles is a plus. The ideal candidate should also possess good analytical skills and the ability to learn quickly, and be able to work effectively and share knowledge with his/her team members. Local candidates are preferred for interviews. Out-of-state candidates do not submit resumes. The length of the initial contract is 8 to 12 months and the typical work hours are 25 to 35 hours a week. Once hired, we will conduct training for understanding the systems and using the software tools. Telecommuting is permitted once this person has been successfully trained. There is a great possibility that this contract may be extended. We prefer to promote from within if a permanent position in the same technical area becomes available. The candidate must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

MAXIMUS will conduct a written test during the initial interview. The subjects of the test will include database concepts, SQL, and simple math (number sequence).
REQUIREMENTS
The candidate should fulfill the following qualifications:
1. + 2 Years Education in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related fields.
2. Good Knowledge of SQL and database concepts
3. Good verbal, analytical, and writing skills
4. + 1 Year Customer support experience and knowledge of GUI design concepts are a plus
