Technical Support Consultant (Medicare)

Research and analyze Medicare regulations and legislation as they affect the Audit and Reimbursement Department.



Develop methods, procedures, and policies which comply with the Medicare program, meet Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and meet Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards. Formally document policies and procedures for uniform application throughout the department.



Draft audit programs and other procedures for application in the department and instruct Field Office and Home Office staff on their implementation and use.



Develop, communicate, arrange and conduct related training programs as necessary and lead periodic training sessions with the Field Office and Home Office staff as required. Ensure that Field Office and Home Office staff meet educational requirements as mandated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).



Develop and perform periodic quality and internal control reviews of completed Field Office and Home Office audit and settlement work to assure compliance with Government Auditing Standards, contract quality performance requirements and internal control requirements.



Provide technical expertise in interpretation of critical issues related to Medicare regulations and program instructions.



Maintain frequent personal and telephone contact with audit management and staff in the Field Offices to discuss and resolve problems related to the implementation of new programs and procedures and the development of the field audit staff.



Provide liaison and support to staff regarding computer software applications including trouble shooting, training, and technical support.



Participate in team meetings and serve on internal workgroups to identify operational deficiencies and develop improved processes and procedures.
REQUIREMENTS


Extensive educational background in accounting or finance.

In-depth experience with Medicare audit functions.



Familarity with cost reporting requirements and Medicare regulations as they relate to the principles of Medicare reimbursement.



Understanding and a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.


Ability to work independently.

Strong verbal communication and human relation skills.

Strong written communication skills.

Excellent research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
