Technical Consultant / Solutions Architect

Open Text is recruiting for an outstanding Technical Consultant / Solutions Architect our Western Region.
Purpose of Position
Design, review and approve solution architecture and implementations. Advise engagement leaders on complex technical issues. Lead specific technical or functional portions of engagements. Contribute to business development efforts on particular deals including, cost, risk and solution architecture. Lead project team with broad subject matter knowledge. Talks to high level executives such as CIO and CEO's to led and advise on technology direction and scopes out for a highly specialized consulting engagements. Acts as a leading authority on at least one service offering, industry or function and displays a deep working knowledge of others. Understands customer requirements and advises project team on highly specialized, large portions of solution architecture and implementation. Applies expert business skills and consulting methodologies to collect and analyze data. Exhibits a broad knowledge of all service offerings within Open Text. Scopes the specialized portion of engagements and provides expertise during proposal preparations. The incumbent works on complex problems that impact the design success of current projects or addresses broad design issues for future projects. Makes executive presentations on results specifically related to the specialized portion of the engagement. Influences the strategic direction of the practice. May matrix manage a team of contributors.
Primary Duties
Analysis of business process and definition of business requirements specifications. Analyze complex system problems and implement cost-effective solutions. Act as the point of contact between Open Text technical staff and client business staff. Testing of functionalities to ensure compliance with business requirements. Must be familiar with the full life cycle development process. Have experience in analyzing business, functional, and technical requirements. Must efficiently collaborate with designers, HTML programmers, and other dependent resources to assure the completion of tasks to meet project’s specifications and budgets Plan, design, configure and implement complex web-based business designs to the business community. Ability to communicate with customers senior technology resources and advise and guide in the best approaches, techniques and technologies. Supports business development efforts as needed.
Skills and Knowledge
Experience in a complex web environments:
- Experience in IIS, SunOne and Apache, Tomcat web services on Linux SuSe 9, Sun/Solaris and Windows 2000/2003 platforms
- Foundational knowledge of Web-Based protocols (HTTP, SSL, FTP)
- Foundational knowledge of XML, XSLT, HTML, DHTML, Java, JavaScript
- Experience managing/administering proxy and firewall services and portals
- Experience supporting large-scale line-of-business applications in mixed environments (Solaris, Linux, Windows)
- Experience with the installation and configuration of Oracle and MS SQL databases
- Proven/established experience in developing project related documentation
- Strong communication skills written & oral
Academic
Bachelors or advanced degree preferably related to Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
Clearance
Proof of ability to legally work in the United States is required.
Work Environment
General office or home office environment with regular business hours of 8:30AM to 5:30PM. However, work outside of these hours may be necessary due to project schedules, and deadlines. Carrying a phone/pager and travel is required approx 90%.
