Systems Administrator - Tier II Support TechnicianT-SQL, SQL Server 7.0/2000Network Operations/Systems Monitoring Server Hardware & Software Support

The Tier II Technician provides support for incidents and service requests outside Tier 1 support capabilities working alongside a vendor of the Software Giant in Redmond, Washington.

(This is a v- position at the Software Giant, so anyone who is an a- must complete their 100 day break in service before applying.)


Main responsibilities include:
Document the incident including all relevant data and actions taken into the incident tracking system
Prioritize Incident
Resolve Incidents within defined area of expertise
Transfer (route) incident to relevant Tier 3 support group(s)
For assigned incidents upon completion or resolution, execute the closure / resolution process in conformance with current applicable processes and procedures
Identify and escalate potential Problems (i.e. high impact, repeat or multiple users incidents)

Other Responsibilities:
Install and configure SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005
Setup and troubleshoot SQL Server 2000 log shipping
Setup and troubleshoot SQL Server 2000 transactional replication
Setup, monitor and troubleshoot SQL Agent jobs

This is an estimated 6+ month contract position, through Volt Technical Resources a division of a Fortune 1000 publicly traded Staffing Industry Leader, which is headquartered in Redmond, Washington. We are among the largest IT staffing companies in the US for contract/temporary and direct hire placements and support most of the top rated IT companies in the Pacific Northwest.


Requirements:



The position requires working individually, as well as part of a team:
40 Hour work week.
Contract is looking to begin 9/27/06, and last a minimum of 6 months.
Swing Shift work is required - working at least 1 day on the weekend.
Day shift - 5:30am - 3:30pm
Swing shift - 10:30am - 8:30pm

Required Skill Sets include:
Minimum of 2 years experience with SQL Server 7.0/2000 Administration
2+ years experience in Network Operations/Systems Monitoring
Minimum of 3+ years experience or equivalent knowledge of Server hardware & software support
Working knowledge of Transact-SQL
Display solid troubleshooting skills to close intermediate to advanced software issues
Able to use resources provided during initial and ongoing training/support to build individual knowledge base resulting in higher close rate over time
Ability to work well independently and as part of a teamStrong verbal and written communication skills
Strong problem solving, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
Enthusiastic about supporting a complex enterprise environment
Additional technical certifications for related platforms are preferred
Education: MCP, MCSE or equivalent experience is required
