Support Engineer - SQL 2000, T-SQL, MDX, Scripting, VLDB

Do you want to work on some of the largest production databases in the world? Are you comfortable with the care and feeding of 24x7 production systems? If so the GBI Systems Engineering Team might be the place for you! They are looking for a Support Analyst to manage some of their production data warehouse and marketing systems. The GBI Systems Engineering Team manages both the Global Business and Customer Intelligence warehouses for this company's website network as well as the consumer marketing database for this company.


The Support Analyst primary responsibilities include:
Identification, analysis and documenting any issues that affect the performance or production quality of the databases that may be presented to development for product planning/issue resolution
Scalability, availability and performance design and tuning for VLDB
Develop, test, deploy and maintain automated tools for the managing of servers

Requirements:



Required Skill Sets Needed:
5 years managing SQL2K on a Win2000/2003 platform in enterprise production environments
Extensive practice and knowledge of troubleshooting issues in SQL2K and/or SQL 2005 including: High Availability, MSCS/SQL clustering, instancing, blocking, deadlocking, query optimization, log shipping, replication, linked servers, distributed queries, logical and physical database design, database architecture, security models, DTS, recovery models, access violations, hangs, and run-time error scenarios
Experience with Advanced T-SQL, MDX, and scripting such as PERL including Performance tuning and optimization of queries
Ability to multitask and re-prioritize work in a changing production environment
Good documentation skills
Strong teamwork, coordination, cross-group collaboration skills
Experience with administration/maintenance for large scale databases/data warehouses are a plus

Education:
BS/BA in technical discipline required (Computer Science, MIS, etc.)
MCSE or MCDBA certification in currently supported product versions is a plus


Desired Skills and Experience:

Previous experience supporting Business Intelligence, Marketing or CRM systems
Support of web applications
