Strategic Initiatives Manager
The Strategic Initiatives Manager plays a leading role in driving and executing operational improvements across all areas of the Strategic Alliances team. This includes identification and validation of opportunities through final implementation and transitioning to the line organization. Will lead cross-functional projects with small teams comprised of alliance relationship managers, department managers, critical line managers, unit managers, individual contributors and functional experts. Facilitates the development of strategic relationships with key operations managers. Will collaborate with senior management in the development of long-range department goals and special initiatives and works on a project basis with senior management across a wide variety of issues of critical importance to the company.
Projects are sourced through individual analysis and as directed by senior management. Typical team initiatives include: Business Development; Project Management; Business Process Reengineering; Vendor Due Diligence and Integration; Organizational Change Management; IT Planning and Business Case Development; Expense Management; Budgeting and Financial Analysis; and Sourcing/Procurement.
Responsible for developing strong day to day relationships with business counterparts; understanding overall business and strategy objectives and ensuring those objectives are integrated into HSBC’s business strategy. Plays a lead role in creating quantifiable value opportunities for the Strategic Alliances team by identifying, creating and implementing organizational best practices, process enhancements or reengineering efforts. Defines, refines, tests and implements strategic plans for the Strategic Alliances team improving operational efficiencies and effectiveness. Manages the strategic and tactical aspects of the project to facilitate implementation of the strategy.
Supports efforts to develop new alliance relationships by building relationships with prospective partners, performing financial analysis, preparing executive-level presentations and delivering business proposals.
Performs research, financial planning and modeling. Ensures compliance monitoring is in place, including processes for management of operational risk, in accordance with Company and regulatory standards. Completes other related duties as assigned, provide management direction to foster effective selection, development and reward of subordinates while contributing to initiatives in support of the Company’s Diversity programs.

job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; MBA preferred
Six to eight years proven corporate experience (management consulting firm, investment bank, or strategic planning/corporate development group within a major company, preferably within consumer finance)
Excellent general management capabilities as demonstrated by: project leadership skills, breadth of strategic thinking (big picture perspective), business acumen and ability to manage staff
Able to thrive in and bring structure to unstructured environments
Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently, coordinate cross-functional teams and influence people across the organization at multiple levels
Be a team player and able to share responsibility for key decision making with a team, while accepting responsibility to drive internal decision making process
Ability to effectively translate data into actionable information and ability to generate innovative insights from the analysis to drive actionable results
Proficient at research, modeling, and financial analysis
Strong record of career accomplishments demonstrated by progressive growth and promotions
