Sr. Underwriter Consultant or Underwriting Consultant

Primary Function:

To ensure the profitable underwriting of facultative substandard business in the U.S. reinsurance market by providing good quality quotes to the company’s clients on a timely basis. Key measurements are: quality quotes, time service, offer/decline ratios and internal audit results. Key success drives are: customer relationships, technical expertise, becoming the go to person in that area, increase client contact to facilitate new facultative relationships as well as problem resolution and make presentations and industry/client meetings. Approval authority from $3 – $5 Million, depending on the position level.
REQUIREMENTS


Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

4 – 8 years of direct underwriting experience

Thorough working knowledge of medicine, law, accounting, and finance as applied to the evaluation of life reinsurance risks and of life insurance risks.

Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

Ability to work on-line whether in home office or remote
Superior interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills (oral and written)

Must be creative, flexible, motivated, and responsive

Demonstrate effective time management and conflict resolution

Work effectively in teams

Client focused (both external and internal)

Occasional travel required

Preferred:

BS/BA Science, Business, ACS, AALU, FALU, CLU

5 – 7 years reinsurance or impaired risk (direct experience)
