Sr. Systems Consultant (Pre-sales) Bethesda, MD Sybase delivers open-architecture solutions that provide the liquidity and mobility necessary to create the Unwired Enterprise. Sybase solutions integrate platforms, databases, and applications (liquidity), and extend those applications to mobile workers through mobile and Wi-Fi technologies (mobility). We have an opening in our Bethesda, Maryland office for an experienced Pre-sales Systems Consultant to support our Mid-Atlantic Region sales team. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record in a technical Pre-Sales position, ideally with an enterprise infrastructure software company. If you are an effective communicator with strong presentation skills and a demonstrated success record of aggressively and tenaciously making deals happens, we want to speak with you.


Purpose of the Position: ? Provides technical support and sales expertise to pre (and sometimes post sales) situations within a designated field sales business unit. ? Formulates technical strategies and tactics for sales in support of Sybase products and services and functions as an integral part of the sales team. ? Prepares detailed product specifications and qualifies customer needs assessments and develops potential solutions. ? Conducts sales presentations, product demonstrations, and installation and of company products to ensure that the system is functioning according to specifications. ? Also responsible for formulating technical strategies business development and tactics for sales in support of Sybase products and services and functioning as an integral part of the sales team.

Major Duties and Responsibilities: Technical Expertise: Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires a review of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Experienced, fully competent in own area. Shares expertise with others; provides guidance and support to others. Applies knowledge/skills to a range of standard or non standard activities. Articulates business benefits and develops technical strategy. Client/Business Focus: Interprets client needs, assessing the full requirements; identifies solutions to non-standard tasks/queries. Is aware of internal/external business issues and best practice in own discipline; applies to own role. Identifies territory business issues and fulfills strategic role in business opportunities. Takes action to monitor and control costs related to own work. Actively participates with Corporate personnel in the resolution of customer issues. Supports user group activities as necessary. Supports business development activities. Creating & Delivering Solutions: Identifies key issues from partial/conflicting data; spots new less obvious solutions. Manages own time to meet agreed targets; develops plans for specific work activities in own area over the short term. Working Relationships: Creates informal networks with key contacts within own area. Education and Related Experience: Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar degree and A minimum of 6-9 years pre-sales technical support experience pre-sales technical support role supporting the sales of enterprise software and services to major accounts or 4-5 years experience with a Masters degree). Excellent presentation/demonstration skills are required Exercised knowledge of RDBMS, Data Replication, and enterprise software experience. Working knowledge Unix, Linux, and Windows operating systems.Job Requirements
