Sr. Portfolio Analyst

Highland Capital Management, L.P. is an investment management firm specializing in below investment-grade fixed income securities, with over $25 billion under management. Highland Capital has is seeking bright, hard-working individuals with equity or fixed income security analysis, business valuation, restructuring, audit or consulting experience to join our fast paced Dallas office. The candidate should expect an evolving position with an average 60 hours per week that requires working with several different levels of the organization. The firm continues to expand rapidly and is seeking top performing candidates to help accelerate and maintain its growth.

Description:
The firm has immediate openings for full time Sr. Portfolio Analysts to assist our Portfolio Managers with credit analysis and portfolio management. The firm currently employs graduates of the following business schools, among others, in its Investments division: Harvard, Stanford, Wharton, Chicago, Kellogg and Duke. In addition, the firm employs 19 CFA Charterholders.
These highly visible positions will enable analysts to be involved with all aspects of the credit process, as well as have the opportunity to work on ad hoc projects. Analysts will have the opportunity to become Portfolio Manager in 2-3 years with promotions based on merit.

Key Responsibilities:
• Fundamental credit analysis and queries senior management of portfolio companies or potential investments
• Interaction with Wall Street brokers/banker/analysts and industry experts
• Assist portfolio managers in developing credit recommendations
• Ability to work an average of 60 hours per week
REQUIREMENTS
Required Skills:
• 3-8 years of work experience in corporate finance, treasury, investment or corporate banking
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Superior work ethic and professional habits
• Strong MS Office and computer skills

Education:
• BBA required in Finance, Economics, or other analytical major
• MBA and/or professional certifications (CFA, CPA, CMA, etc.) are strongly desired
