Sr. Database Administrator

The Sr. DBA will play a key role in developing, implementing and managing Oracle databases. The Sr. DBA must have in-depth knowledge of Design, Systems Integration and hands-on implementation skills. The Sr. DBA must also have experience in managing and supporting transactional databases on Oracle.


Essential Functions

•Create, maintain and support Oracle databases
•Work with functional and technical project, OLAP architects and ETL analyst to determine the appropriate data architecture, table lay outs, indexes, data storage schemes etc.
•Develop logical and physical database designs and participate in the detailed design, development, testing, and deployment of the architectures. Database design will support 3NF atomic level EDW repository and dimensional/star/snowflake schema designs for Decision Support and CRM systems.
•Provide help with code reviews, monitoring and control
•Assist the development team in ensuring the availability and accuracy of data warehouse data. Investigate and assist in resolution of any day-to-day warehouse issues.
•Conduct technical reviews and walkthroughs of system design documentation with development and design team members.
•Administer production database releases.
•Administer backup and recovery of Oracle databases.
•Plan and coordinate system upgrades.
•Prepare system availability reports to Project Management.
•Participate I support duties in a 24/7 environment
•Must be able to mentor and transfer knowledge on Data Warehouse technologies to other DBAs in the team.
•Experience upgrading databases.

Skills

•Must be familiar with monitoring and tuning ETL processes
•Ability to apply innovative approaches to solving design and technical issues
•Familiarity with Solaris
•Excellent personal communication, leadership and organizational skills. Team player.

Experience

•6 years experience in Oracle administration on UNIX platform
•Solid experience in Database and SQL tuning
•Prior experience of vary large data warehouses, data extracts and ETL processing
•Experience with Oracle database administration on 9i 10 10g on UNIX platforms
•
REQUIREMENTS
4 years experience in data modeling and integration, data mining and data migration
•Experience with implementing metadata driven designs
•Solid experience in monitoring and analyzing production database platforms
•Experience in UNIX Scripting languages like Perl and Korn Shell
•Experience in Disaster Recovery exercises
•Retail experience preferred
•Experience working with iterative software development methodologies
•Experience using data modeling tools, including Erwin, Designer/2000 or SILVERRUN
•Oracle 10g Certification preferred

Education

B.S. Degree Computer Science or equivalent experience
