Additional information can be found on our website, sig.com.Job DescriptionThe Software Test Engineer will be responsible for designing and executing tests for electronic trading systems on UNIX and Windows platforms. As an integral member of the development team, the software tester participates in delivering strategic applications to SIG's traders and customers. The team works in a fast-paced environment with requirements that are discovered or refined during the development process. The tester's role is to learn the application, provide feedback to the development team, and support the users. Testing responsibilities include providing bug reports and risk assessments for new applications, releases, and patches, sometimes with short schedules. Additional responsibilities will include participation in software rollout and production support. Software rollout may include packaging, installing and configuring software in production environments, and production verification testing. Support activities may include training users and other technical support staff, and responding to production questions and problems as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of five years experience working in a software development organization is required, including at least two years of full-time, hands-on application software testing experienceExperience with several of the following is required: real-time client/server systems, Oracle or other relational database, rapid software testing, exploratory testing, system testing, black box testing, production verification testing, customer certification testing, performance testing and GUI testing.Familiarity with the concepts involved in software development and testing for at least one of these platforms is required: Solaris or other UNIX systems, Windows NT/2000/XP workstations or Windows-based terminal servers.Familiarity with software release management, software installation, software support and systems administration are pluses.Experience in testing financial applications is a plus, especially testing market data systems, back office systems, order routing systems or FIX and CMS protocols.Experience with Perl or other scripting languages is a plus.Demonstrated ability to: learn quickly, communicate clearly, find and report bugs efficiently and solve business and technical problems.Bachelor's degree preferred.
