Software Council Manager

The Council Manager – Software & Services will lead a global team of professionals accountable for the recruitment, management and marketing of Gerson Lehrman Group’s Technology Council. The Gerson Lehrman Group Councils are global networks of executives, physicians, scientists, engineers, attorneys, and other professionals who deliver expertise and decision-making assistance to business, government and investment leaders from around the world. Council development in Software & Services includes population development and management in five core areas: Software Vendors, Distributors, Value Added Resellers, System Integrators and IT Buyers/CIO’s.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

•Recruit new Council Members into the Gerson Lehrman Group Technology Council:
oInteract with client-facing Research Managers to gauge customer needs
oIdentify experts with pertinent insights for Gerson Lehrman Group’s clients in the software industry
oDevelop personal relationships with key opinion and industry leaders, while engaging them in productive research activities
oReach out and recruit prospective Council Members through telephone, email and marketing campaigns
oManage large-scale Council development through partnerships with international and domestic associations and companies

•Organize Technology Council Members, using Gerson Lehrman Group’s proprietary technology:
oMaintain a deep understanding of the software industry and extended distribution channel to help classify Council Member expertise
oUsing knowledge of the software industry and client activity, identify strategic population needs for recruiting
oEducate internal staff about industry trends and expertise that resides within the GLG Technology Council

•Deploy software industry sector-specific content into Gerson Lehrman Group’s evolving product portfolio, which today includes:
oRegular small-group meetings between Gerson Lehrman Group clients and Council Members
oEducation Seminars
oDomestic and international research trips to relevant regions
oProprietary Surveys
oCollaborative Reports
oPhone Consultations

•Coordinate and manage GLG’s software research product portfolio globally
oWork closely with Council Management teams in Gurgaon, India and Shanghai, China and Research Management teams in Asia (Hong Kong), Europe (London) and North America (Boston, New York, San Francisco) to facilitate ongoing development and effective deployment of the Technology Council
REQUIREMENTS
Educational and Professional:

•Bachelor's degree with a GPA of 3.3 or higher from a top tier school
•3-5 years of successful experience in the software industry
•Demonstrated mature understanding of business issues facing companies and employees related to Software and IT purchasing trends.
•Experience with or knowledge of the financial services and/or financial research industry
