Senior Electrical Transmission Planning Engineer

Hudson Energy is seeking a Senior Electrical Transmission Planning Engineer

This position is responsible for performance and technical leadership in the performance of transmission planning studies required under the FERC’s Large Generator Interconnection Procedures (“LGIP”) and Small Generator Interconnection Procedures (“SGIP”) and required to address requests for Elective Transmission Upgrades.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•This position will perform and direct planning studies (Feasibility and System Impact studies) in response to requests for interconnection pursuant to LGIP/SGIP and in response to requests for elective expansion pursuant to OATT.
•Study scoping, interconnection design, system performance assessment analysis and review. Analysis of data provided by generator for completeness and accuracy.
•Conduct coordination with affected parties via integrated review process
•Conduct coordination with/direction of Transmission Owners and other subcontractors
•Project/process tracking; support through to execution of interconnection agreement
•Direct support of interconnection activities
•Coordinate with Operations Planning
•Develop/reflect practical operating impacts in planning activities
•Support tariff service study activity
•Must have the ability to work with a wide range of engineers and other stakeholders to assure that reasonable and respective expectations are met
•Must possess comprehension of models of generators used in loadflow and stability analysis
•Must understand and serve customer needs & objectives

REQUIREMENTS:

8-10 years of engineering experience in the field of electric power systems operations, modeling, assessment or planning.

B.S. in Electrical Engineering is required; concentration in power systems and control is preferred.

A Masters Degree in Power Engineering is highly desirable
Professional Engineering license is beneficial, but not required

This is a long term (1-5) year contract assignment.
