Responsibilities

Senior consultants will be measured on providing resolutions to various problems of moderately complex scope, their ability to be utilized on current project assignments, to deliver pre-defined projects, and to meet customer satisfaction, billable utilization, and margin goals.
The Senior consultant is responsible for delivering high-level, on-site, rapid response services to our North American customers for their Progress-based applications. Assignments will include work on database down emergency situations, database performance review and tuning, database high-scale availability projects, system monitoring and automation, system migration, database setup and configuration, and system benchmarking projects. OpenEdge Management and Replication installs and configuration. Specific tasks in standard assignments include database table analysis, file system usage analysis, database crash recovery and repair processes, and database configuration analysis. Tasks also include the use of system operational statistics in problem analysis, the use of operating specific utilities, and the use of database modeling tools to identify possible performance problems. Senior consultants will also participate in large-scale project assignments on an as-needed basis and act as a liaison between the customer and the company in solving problems.

When not providing high-level consulting services ability to assist with presales as well as provide technical instruction.


Qualifications

The Qualified candidates will have experience with Progress OpenEdge Development products and with Java. Operating system configuration skills (Unix, PC LAN, and/or AS/400), client/server and web deployment skills, and prior database tuning experience is required. Experience should be extensive and comprehensive with demonstrated history of being sought by others for consultation and leadership. Experience in Oracle database design and management and in giving customer presentations and customer training courses or comparable customer management skills is preferred.
