Senior Consultant Executive Communications

BASIC FUNCTIONWorking with the Director, Internal Communications, and interfacing directly with members of senior managements, the Senior Consultant, Executive Communications, will be responsible for content development, oversight of visual and graphics production, and overall support for leadership communications. Prepare a wide range of high-level written communications (presentations, speeches, white papers, op-eds etc) for senior leadership of DFS. Analyze internal and external trends and other issues that affect Discover and the payments industry and build this understanding into appropriate messages from senior executive communications. Liaise regularly with the Public Relations team charged with managing the executive visibility program and provide editorial assistance as needed.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1.Research and write speeches (or other materials) for the top leadership of DFS for their scheduled speaking engagements, panel participations, and interviews. The written materials could include the following: speech outline, talking points, full draft of the speech and questions and answers for panel discussions.
2.Manage, write, edit and/or proofread a variety of corporate communications materials, including publications, op-eds, bylines articles, brochures, web site copy, case studies, biographies, etc. Ensure that communications are accurate, clear, and maintain a consistent tone and voice that is brand appropriate.
3.Prepare feature articles and content for Discover Today as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Bachelor’s Degree5 – 7 years of relevant experienceExcellent writing and communication skills.
Ability to identify, build and maintain effective relationships with senior levels of management and other key stakeholders.
Experience as a trusted advisor to senior management on communication issues.
Proven leadership ability in developing and executing results-driven communications strategies that are aligned with business goals and objectives.
Experience in helping organizations manage change, define/redefine culture and become better brand-aligned through strategic internal communications.
Demonstrated dedication to quality, creativity and innovative thinking.
Solid understanding of communication best practices and models, particularly around brand building through the integration of employee behavior, attitudes, performance and organizational culture.
Strong people management skills with a proven ability to help employees develop and contribute to their full potential.
Ability to manage multiple projects/roles in an evolving environment.
Vendor selection, project management, planning, budget and measurement experience.DESIRED SKILLS:
