Senior Consultant – Desktop Solutions

PLA seeks an experienced consultant to help us grow our Desktop Solutions Group by implementing industry leading solutions for our clients. Candidate will exhibit a holistic understanding of desktop management and be familiar with the integration between and operations of the desktop, directory and messaging components as well as their total cost of ownership / business context. Candidate will participate in learning and mastering Microsoft’s next generation desktop O/S Vista and expanded functionality.



In this role, the candidate will:



· Participate in the planning and execution of the groups business development plan

· Facilitate and lead desktop management architecture design sessions with our clients

· Implement solutions to deploy and manage desktop images

· Create custom desktop images to meet clients strategic business and IT requirements

· Implement solutions to package and deploy applications to user desktops

· Design and implement Active Directory Group Policy Settings to manage desktop environments

· Configure systems for performance optimization and integrated solutions into customer environments

· Create scripts, batch files, or other programs to customize software deployment, test application packages, and document results.

· Develop and Implement XPVista and Office 2003/2007 desktop solutions for our client base

· Develop desktop security solutions including; spyware, anti-virus, rights management for our clients



The candidate must possess the following skills in order to be considered:



In depth knowledge and working experience with Desktop management solutions such as Microsoft SMS, Altiris Client Management Suite, etc
Familiar with the Life Cycle Management of desktop environment.
In dept knowledge of Windows operating systems (Windows 2000, XP, Vista)
Business Desktop Deployment Solution Accelerator,(BDDSA) and Microsoft Solution Framework (MSF)
Desktop Group Policies
Desktop security including firewalls, antivirus, antispyware, Windows Software Update Services (WSUS), etc.
Very analytical and be able to solve complex problems
Understands Project Management methodology.
In depth knowledge of application packaging and distribution tool sets (e.g. Altiris, WinInstall, Install Shield, etc., 3 years)
Working understanding of SQL server and SQL database administration and maintenance
Working understanding of Directory Services (e.g. Active Directory / Novell NDS)
Consulting Experience
Able to function independently
Excellent writing, presentation and documentation skills
MCSE (preferred)
