SQL Database Engineer

SQL Database Engineer - Database Engineering Life-Cycle - Analysis, Design, Construction, Testing, Deployment and Maintenance

The Database Engineer is responsible for requirements analysis, data definition and modeling, logical and physical design of databases and validation of the design for proper functionality, scalability and integrity.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Collect and document business and operational requirements.
Analyze business and operational requirements and produce systems requirements and functional specification.
Create systems data dictionary.
Design logical and physical data models.
Construct (code) and unit test.
Create a traceability matrix for requirement, functional specification and test case.
Perform design and code reviews.
Maintain and evolve database applications.
Work with peer groups to develop user and operational training materials.
Mentor other Database and Software Developers.
Support the objectives of the Manager.
Devise and execute technical plans of action to resolve user issues.
Work effectively with other departments to develop inter-departmental communications and work through issues that span departments.

This is an estimated 6+ month V- contract position through Volt Services Group, a member of the Volt family of companies and a publicly traded, nationally recognized leader in providing staffing and information services. Requirements:



Required Skills for this SQL Database Engineer:
3+ years experience as a Database Developer, preferably working on Web Applications.
3+ years experience writing SQL, stored procedures and triggers using Transact SQL (T-SQL).
1+ years experience with code management systems.
Experience with Visual Studio.Net and other Microsoft development tools.
Demonstrated ability to implement complex application processes using Transact SQL.
Experience with database design and data normalization. Experience with Systems Integration.
Experience with data conversion.
Experience with data cleansing.
Experience with database tuning.
Experience performing database administration tasks in a MS SQL Server development or production environment.
In depth knowledge of web and client/server technologies and development techniques.
Familiarity with all development phases such as requirements definition, prototyping, and code complete definitions.
Understanding of testing such as unit, component, integration, and system testing.
Understanding of IT deployment/implementation steps.
Understanding of documentation required to deliver a software product.
Demonstrated ability to write detailed design and test documents.
Excellent written and verbal skills.
Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.
Strong and effective team communication and problem-solving skills and able to work under very little or no supervision.
B.S. in C.S., E.E. or in a related technical degree.
