TABB Group is currently seeking an ambitious bi-lingual Japanese / English retail brokerage / wealth management research analyst/consultant with strong business analysis / strategy background. This analyst will have dual responsibilities. First, it will be the responsibility of this analyst to work very closely with a major Japanese brokerage to analyze the US brokerage / wealth management industries in assisting this firm in transferring US brokerage / wealth management technologies and business practices to Japan. Second this analyst will be responsible for assisting TABB Group with their existing financial markets research initiatives with the intention of developing a US-based retail brokerage / wealth management practice.

Overall Position Function
We are looking for bi-lingual Japanese / English self-motivated, self-directed individuals that intrinsically understand retail brokerage and wealth management and can take a research or consulting project from conception to completion while managing client relationships. This position will have joint responsibilities (50%/50%) to work with a major Japanese brokerage to analyze the US brokerage / wealth management industries and assist this Japanese brokerage in transferring US brokerage / wealth management technologies and business practices to Japan.
This will entail traveling to Japan between two and four times a year. Understanding the Japanese brokerage culture, infrastructure and needs, analyzing the US brokerage marketplace, and look for technologies and business practices that will align with this firm’s direction. Upon analyzing a business segment, the analyst will work with this Japanese brokerage to make recommendations and help with the business and technology transfer. This will consume 50% of the analyst’s cumulative annual hours.
In the remaining 50% of this analyst’s time they will be responsible for assisting TABB Group with their existing financial markets research initiatives with the intention of developing a US-based retail brokerage / wealth management practice. This will entail working on existing TABB Group research and consulting projects which revolve around the acquisition, analysis, and transformation of information into applied knowledge. Much of our work involves discussing cutting edge financial markets information with industry professionals synthesizing this information into published research and proprietary studies.
Current and recently completed projects include
o Developing and implementing research report based upon interviewing 80+ hedge funds professionals regarding funding, servicing, trading and technology.
o Interviewing 75+ institutional buy-side head traders on their use of sophisticated trading technology and how that technology impacts their relationship with portfolio managers, broker/dealers, and the market then developing a research report on the data
o Providing due-diligence to a major broker dealer looking for financial markets acquisitions
o Investigating the impact of proposed SEC market structure changes and on various segments of the market
o Working with financial markets technology vendors to hone their business strategies
Compensation
Compensation plan includes competitive salary, commission on business developed, bonus predicated upon performance, 3% matching 401K Plan and Health Benefits.
Relocation is not budgeted for this position.

REQUIREMENTS
Responsibilities
o Japanese Brokerage Responsibilities (50%)
o Work with Japanese brokerage to understand their infrastructure and needs
o Analyze retail brokerage / wealth management business strategies and technologies and determine how they integrate into this brokerage’s business model
o Research these strategies and technologies
o Report back to this brokerage firm’s management to help them understand the strategy and technology
o Help transfer this knowledge back to the Japanese firm’s management team
o TABB Group research and analysis responsibilities (50%)
o Analyze cutting-edge trading strategies and technologies
o Structure and analyze information gathered via interview and ascertain critical issues, concerns, and trends
o Write research reports based upon these findings.
o Develop new business
o Work with senior staff to develop research ideas and bring them to reality
o Become an industry recognized expert in the field
o Present information at conferences and seminars
o Handle ad hoc queries from customers and prospects.
Required Experience and Knowledge
o Bi-lingual Japanese / English – is an absolute requirement
o Ability to travel to Japan between two and four times a year
o Minimum of 5 to 7 years experience with major retail brokerage / wealth management firm
o Minimum of 3 years of business analysis, corporate strategy, or internal consulting experience either within financial markets firm or a consulting firm
o Must be entrepreneurial, self motivated, and focused - able to work independently for days or weeks at a time without heavy supervision
o A strong desire to be a leading industry thinker and influencer
o Ability to present at conferences in front of large groups
o Excellent facility with MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel
