Project Accounting Coordinator

PBS&J, a national employee owned Architecture/Engineering firm is seeking a capable Accounting Coordinator for our Orlando, FL office. Specifically, we are looking for a candidate with strong analytical abilities, good public speaking skills and at least 2 years of accounting experience. The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:
•Prepares invoices using Project Cost System and reviews contracts to ensure invoices are in compliance. - Maintains contract and billing files in orderly fashion.
•Performs monthly project cost analysis and billing reconciliation and monitors profit and loss of projects.
•Analyzes unbilled services and retainage and unbilled retainage; compares compensation against contract amount; provides any other analysis requested by Project Manager or Supervisor. Identifies and corrects negative backlog on active projects.
•Prepares labor adjustments, billing transfers, and journal entries as needed.
•Opens project numbers and assists Project Managers with project initiation, as needed. Closes project numbers when appropriate and corrects compensation for backlog reporting.
•Participates in the revenue generation process.
•Reviews contracts for multipliers, completion dates, signature compliance and other accounting related items.
•Performs extensive analysis of general ledger accounts.
•Investigates and analyzes overhead expenditures for service line support.
•Retrieves back-up documentation and copies for inclusion with invoices, if necessary.
•Maintains database on subconsultants that includes keeping up-to-date information on certificates of insurance and subconsultant agreements; verifies all invoices from subconsultants before processing by accounts payable.
•Assists in creating database of minority firms to support subcontracting plans.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with two years experience or a Associates Degree in accounting plus six years or High School plus eight years related experience.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access required. Good interpersonal and communication skills required to interact effectively with project manager and subconsultants.
