Mission of Position:
The primary focus of this position it to provide integration, design and engineering services for Zones customers. A System Engineer II should hold their MCSE, RHCT/Suse or CNE. A System Engineer II should hold either their ASE - Specialty in HP ProLiant and HP StorageWorks Integration (HP) or PSE (IBM) and be able to integrate server based applications on server platforms. A System Engineer II can install, configure, and maintain the LAN servers and workstations for any customers? environment. A System Engineer II can manage performance and security of LANs within their specific field of expertise. A System Engineer II should possess at minimum one NOS certification and two Manufacturer certifications:

Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer

Certified Novell Engineer

Linux Enterprise (Red Hat or Suse)

Microsoft Windows Server

Citrix Certified Administrators

Manufacturer specific certifications (IBM, HP, Cisco, Citrix, etc)

Clear understanding of LAN protocols (TCP/IP, Netbeui, etc.) and topologies (Ethernet, Token-Ring, Fiber, etc.)Results to be Achieved:
1. Provide engineering services to customers around platforms identified above
2. Exceed customer?s expectations on quality and thoroughness for each designed or implemented solution
3. Work closely with manufacturers to grow relationships and obtain certifications
4. Through pre and post technical efforts maintain a 70% billable work queue
5. During non-billable periods assist sales with pre-sales technical efforts and customer growthStrategies
Provide cross training to existing junior technicians and engineers with a focus on growing ZPS competencies
Identify existing service opportunities in focus areas (Microsoft Windows Server, Linux Enterprise, Novell) within existing client baseProcess
1. Grow ZPS through product focus areas:
a. Work with Sales force to identify existing or potential customers
b. Develop strong relationships with Merchandising (IBM, HP, Citrix, etc) team to identify potential clients
c. Assist with ZPS marketing to capture appropriate markets and communicate service solutions
d. Develop sales questionnaire assisting the sales team with asking the right qualifying questions2. Deliver network based solutions growing both the product and services business:
a. Pre-Site Review
b. Discovery and planning sessions
c. Engineering efforts
d. Installation and integration efforts

Should possess minimum one technical certification
3 to 5 years enterprise technical experience in a LAN admin, Helpdesk or first-line support position
Must have ability to test for MCSE or CNE within three months of hiring
Linux enterprise certifications
Strong communication skills (verbal & written)
Ability to provide cogent network documentation using MS VisioActivity Metrics
Maintain 70+% billable utilization
Maintain and secure certifications in focus areas with each manufacturer (renew appropriately)
Deliver accurate design solutions 100% of the time
Track all efforts in ZPS TimeTracker application (billable, expenses, utilization, etc)
