Program Aide

JOB SUMMARY:Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Aides in the overall operation of the home, including consumer related and house hold tasks.
2.Provides direct care assistance to the consumers.
3. Responds to any crisis/emergency situation as needed.
4. Helps plan and assists in recreational activities.

MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent required. Experience working with developmentally disabled preferred. Valid N.J. Driver’s license with a good driver record required with at least two years driving experience. College degree preferred and some experience working with Developmental Disable.

Counselor Position:

Maintains professional relationship with families, casemanagers, guardians, dentists, physicians and other interested person.

Assists in the formulation of the I.H.P. plans. Provides the Residential Supervisor with regular reports and information regarding the consumers.

Regularly attends staff meetings to provide input regarding the program. Records significant happenings including behavior changes and consumer progress in the log.

Provides the necessary care and supervision to any consumer who may be home during the day due to sickness, vacation, etc.

Instructs the consumers in self-help/grooming skills as required. Ensures that the facility is being maintained according to D.D.D. and ARC/Essex standards.
REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience for both Program Aide and Counselor:

Two years college in a related field and or two years experience working with the mentally retarded. Valid driver license required.
