PricewaterhouseCoopers is looking for qualified professionals to join its Independence Office. The Independence Office helps PwC and its professionals maintain independence with SEC, AICPA, PCAOB and GAO rules and regulations. It is responsible for communicating with all PwC professionals and outside regulatory bodies. The Independence Policy & Consulting group develops the
firm's policies on Independence and ensures that internal policies are consistent with existing regulatory requirements. Additionally, the group is involved in addressing the operational needs within the firm created by Independence compliance requirements; therefore, the group interacts with different units within the department and throughout the firm to monitor and enhance compliance with applicable policies and rules.
REQUIREMENTS
Education Requirement:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree and five years of applicable work experience (preferably in a tax or accounting related field). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong computer
skills, including proficiency with standard Windows XP, are required (Excel and PowerPoint skills are a plus). Highly motivated, detail-oriented, flexible, and interested in developing new skills. The applicant should have prior experience managing a small project team and should be able to work in a team, as well as individually. The applicant should also have strong analytical and
research skills and be able to research pertinent industry, regulation, and technical matters. Ability to prioritize, organize, and handle multiple tasks. Prior knowledge of SEC and AICPA independence rules is preferred.Essential Requirements:
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: direct day-to-day supervision of new-hire associates; performing detailed reviews of all work they perform prior to submission to the PDT Director, as well as addressing the training, development and coaching needs of the associates, in the areas of auditor independence, professional standards and internal IO procedures; taking the lead in conducting initial reviews and analyses of newly exposed and promulgated independence standards (SEC, PCAOB, AICPA, GAO), assessing their impact on current Firm policy,communicating such in summary form to the broader P&C group, IO and others, and ultimately drafting required changes to written policies and procedures; undertaking a project management role for a variety of PDT tasks including planning, coordinating and participating in the monthly PDT meetings (attended by IO Partners/Directors) and all aspects of USIO SOPS (Statement Of Permitted Services) development, review, finalization and dissemination; maintaining the PDT resource library (IRD - Independence Reference Library); playing a leading
role in drafting content for the US firm's Independence Policy (encompassing personal, scope of service, and engagement policies); drafting content for technical guidance for dissemination throughout the global firm; reviewing and editing internal and external presentations and documents from an independence, and compliance perspective; participation in the management, coaching, and training/development of staff; project/team management and delegation; consulting with professionals throughout the firm regarding personal
independence and scope of service policies in accordance with SEC, AICPA, PCAOB, GAO IFAC, and firm policies;.
