Overnight Counselor / Weekend Overnight Counselor

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION:

The Overnight Counselor will be responsible for overseeing client interactions and maintaining a safe, clean
environment including working with clients on assigned daily living skills tasks in order to improve their ability to function at their highest level.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDED BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

Develop social interaction and promote cooperative problem solving.

Oversee client interaction to assure continued development of daily living skills and social skills

Comply with and enforce house rules and lease.

Maintain all applicable records, i.e., staff log and client log and required DMH documentation.

Maintain a safe and sanitary environment.

Oversee the client chores in the common areas of the house.
Supervise morning medications.

Attend bi-weekly supervision meeting.

Attend weekly staff meeting and one evening staff meeting per month.

Report to and gain clearance from Program Supervisor.

Perform other duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION/TRAINING:

REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Ability to pass MAP (medication administration)
First Aid and CPR testing for certification.
Ability to pass CORI clearance.

PREFERRED:
Undergraduate degree and some advanced education including MAP certification.
Experience with Microsoft Office 2000.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

REQUIRED:
2-3 years related experience in human services.
Strong writing and verbal skills.

PREFERRED:
Previous experience with the mentally ill; professionally or personally.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES/SKILLS:

REQUIRED:
Frequent bending, stooping and standing .
Ability to lift full trash bags (10 lbs.)

MENTAL ABILITIES/SKILLS:

REQUIRED:
Ability to work independently and to handle authority appropriately.
Ability to work in a demanding environment.
Ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously.
