Milieu/Program Counselor-Youth AOD Program (2nd shift)
Job Summary:
The position will be responsible for supervision of clients, administration of the program rules and level system, and facilitation of a therapeutic, positive, and safe milieu.
Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting in the daily milieu activities, providing supportive listening to clients individually and in-group settings. Also responsible for weekend work, assisting with milieu activities, including outings and overall supervision of clients on the unit. Reports to the shift leader and is responsible for creating an environment conducive to client personal growth and learning skills for substance use reduction.Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for monitoring, supervising, and interacting with clients on the unit in a therapeutic manner
Responsible for completing daily shift progress notes for clients
Responsible for making phone calls and supervising phone calls with clients contacting their families, DCS, probation officers, or any other approved contact personAssist in obtaining urine drug screens from clients
Assist in conducting client searches
Facilitate psycho educational groups related to Alcohol and Drugs, anger management, or any other pertinent subject matter
Monitor client symptoms/behaviors and participate in weekly treatment planning
Assist in preparing meals for clients and cleaning up the kitchen area after meals
Transport clients on activities, appointments, etc.
Supervise visitation by parents, DCS workers, etc.
Gather clients information and document findings in the medical record
Assist and supervise clients doing their laundry and making sure laundry room area is clean
Complete client inventory of items brought in and taken out of facility

Program Counselor- Possess a Bachelor’s degree. Understanding of youth needs and one year’s experience working with children/youth/families preferred.
Milieu Counselors – Possess a High School Diploma or G.E.D. and understanding of youth needs and one year’s experience working with children/youth/families.Experience
Working with children/youth/families, prefer residential experience or exposure via internship. Understanding of or willingness to learn principles of behavior modification, child development, family dynamics, de-escalation techniques, and Alcohol and Drug related issues.
