Description:

Manage information technology services within MicroEdge and its subsidiary, NPO Solutions.
Develop requirements for new and expanded technology-based information systems.
Establish priorities for new and expanded technology-based information systems.
Develop requirements and justification for new and expanded network infrastructure projects.
Determine and assign all necessary project resources, establish a project timelines and target completion dates. Track progress towards project completion and report regularly to MicroEdge management.
Develop specifications for new and enhanced system capabilities. Establish criteria for product/service selection. Conduct product & system research to identify the best alternative. Identify and recommend the preferred product(s).
Supervise network technical support staff, establish goals and objectives, provide day-to-day supervision, and conduct annual performance appraisals. Develop and implement professional development plans for network support staff.
Ensure that network meets corporate business objectives. Assess technological trends and developments; recommend new hardware, software and upgrades. Obtain resources for new and enhanced information system solutions.
Establish MicroEdge-wide technology budget to include all costs in support of all computer-based information systems and services. Present budget to senior corporate management for approval. Coordinate MicroEdge technology and department budget with accounting department. Track and monitor all expenses against budget.
Identify needs for outsourcing and contracted services. Identify qualified vendors.
Establish and maintain relationships with service providers, hardware and software vendors.
Review user requests that have been reviewed by the department head then determine and establish priority. Implement and establish procedures to assure that individual hardware, software, and service requests receive timely response.
Carry a pager and respond to system alerts as part of a 7 x 24 operational support function.
Configure, install, and maintain network devices.
Conduct system maintenance and install upgrades as required.
Ensure that Backup tapes are secured both on-site in fireproof safes, and at an off-site facility in a secure controlled environment. Ensure regular and reliable verified server backup log and quick recovery of files and server hardware.
Notify users as soon as systems are down and then advise them of alternatives and when systems are expected to return to full operation.


Requirements:

7- 10 years of direct experience in an IT group and in IT management.
5+ years experience in designing and developing corporate security, support of Windows 2000/NT and Microsoft Servers are required.
Demonstrated ability to install, upgrade, perform maintenance, and administer on network security equipment is required. Experience with Cisco switches and routers is required.
Demonstrated ability to install, upgrade, and perform maintenance on user workstations and server hardware is required.
Knowledge and hands on experience with all Microsoft operating systems and applications is experienced.
Added plus: Microsoft and Cisco certification.
Proven ability to effectively manage a small team of IT professionals is required. Strong coaching, supervising, and team building skills are required.
Detailed knowledge of the following is required, practical experience is highly preferred:
Network routing, security and administration (BGP, HSRP), TCP/IP, ODBC (SQL) SMTP
Windows 2000 Server, Active Directory, XP, NT Back up, Linux, ArcServe, Java J2E, NAT, Exchange Server, Netscreen, Radware net Application, MS SQL Server 2003/2005 , Tomcat, Apache
24 / 7 Blade Server technology
ASP Security
Active Directory migrations.
Highly preferred individual characteristics include:
Flexible and adaptable in regards to learning and understanding new technologies.
Self-starter who relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Excellent customer service orientation and ability to communicate effectively.
Strong written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate technical solutions to a non-technical audience.
Must have strong problem solving, technical and analytical skills.
Strong aptitude for learning and understanding business process and needs.
Good team member, organizational planning skills and strong time management skills to balance dynamic workloads.
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time and carry a pager and respond to system alerts as part of a 7x24 operations support function is required.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or similar technical major is preferred.
