Human Resources Consultant
PURPOSE AND SCOPE: This position is responsible for providing advice, services and/or information in a client area relating to recruitment and selection, compensation, and a strong focus on employee relations. This position provides operational and consultative support to the business on an as needed proactive basis.
ACCOUNTABILITES:
1. Consultation – Demonstrates HR knowledge as well as developed and innovative consulting skills in resolving sensitive issues, projects and areas of potential disagreements. Incorporates integrated HR solutions to business issues involving politically charged audiences. Works in concert with other areas of HR to deliver total HR customer solutions. Coach and counsel associates and leaders on various needs by identifying gap between current state and future state. Options may include one-on-one, focus groups, referral, etc.
2. Employee Relations – Maintains up-to-date working knowledge of current state and federal laws including regulatory legislation in the HR area. Point of contact for employee relations issues, complaints & claims, including investigating discrimination and sexual harassment complaints, researching issues regarding the workplace and coordinating the development & communication of corporate policies & guidelines. Makes recommendations and advises management and staff regarding personnel practices and procedures, to ensure compliance with state and federal law. Recommends, administers and interprets company policies. Recognizes potential employee relations issues and takes or recommends necessary corrective action. Monitors and administers disciplinary procedures for staff in compliance with state and federal law and company policies and procedures. Counsels employees and managers/supervisors on the institution of corrective action.
3. Customer Focus - Focuses on quality HR Customer Service which includes supporting and empowering customers to improve and mange their HR and business processes. Provide associates/management with more than they ask, thus adding value that is critical to building long-term relationships.
4. Results Oriented – Serves as a model for initiative, innovation, and adaptability in the organization. Problem solve rather than “control” policy, while at the same time realizing people problems must be solved within the parameters established by the organization.
5. Compensation Expertise – Acts as a liaison between business and corporate compensation resources. Coach, counsel and train managers/supervisors on appropriate compensation actions within current organization, programs and processes. Consult with business to gain acceptance of compensation and job evaluation proposals, policy, procedures and practices. Consult with management on development of effective variable pay programs to support business strategy and maintain company’s competitive position.
6. Recruitment/Selection – Incorporates and develops recruitment strategies to meet the organization’s needs. Coordinate with Supervisors/managers recruiting efforts (i.e., job posting, advertising employment agencies, colleges, community agencies, etc). Interviews, screens and selects applicants within Federal and State guidelines and company policies for exempt and non-exempt positions in the company by evaluating the applicant’s interest, background, experience and personal qualifications. Negotiate and or make offer to applicants, coordinate start dates, and salary offerings, within company policies and guidelines.
7. Training and Development –. Identifies training needs based on management requests, associate requests, via other training evaluations and discussions with managers. Coordinates and delivers consistent quality learning experiences to all associates. Design, develop, maintain and deliver training programs and materials, ensuring they are in alignment with the strategic plans and directions of the organization’s leadership.Job Requirements
Education and/or Experience
1. Four year college degree in business or related field
2. 2 - 5 years of progressive human resources experience, including compensation, recruiting/selection, employee relations, and/or training/development.

CONDITIONS OF WORK:
- Work hours are flexible based on business need
- Travel required as needed
