House Counsel II - Lv 2

Time after time, Progressive has turned the insurance industry upside down through its innovative services, its use of technology and its continual push to be the No. 1 choice for auto insurance.This position is responsible for providing legal representation for insureds and/or Progressive before courts, arbitration panels or administrative bodies and advises company employees in their handling of claim matters. Prepares legal pleadings, motions, statements, trial briefs, etc. Conducts examinations of legal and claim records and consults with witnesses, assureds, legal assistants, and claim personnel in pre-trial preparation. Prepares appeals and performs the necessary research on motions. Negotiates settlements with plaintiff's attorneys subject to authority extended by claim department. Can also perform non-trial work in addition to trial responsibilities. Handles non-complex transactions, personal injury/insurance coverage, nonroutine legal matters, etc.

* Juris Doctorate required.
* Generally 2 - 5 or more years of legal experience/training.
