Health Care Strategy Manager

The Healthcare Strategy Division of Kurt Salmon Associate (KSA) specializes in providing management advisory services in strategic planning, facility planning, and information technology for multiple hospital systems, community hospitals, academic medical centers, children's hospitals and physician group practices. Our expertise in strategy is varied and includes health system strategic planning, ambulatory planning, joint venture development, financial feasibility studies, network development, delivery system integration, clinical service line planning, physician medical group and medical staff planning. Applying state-of-the-art management techniques and expert industry knowledge to each engagement, KSA Consultants help clients achieve and sustain a competitive advantage using collaborative, results oriented processes. KSA has a national client base and is currently working with most of the US News and World Report Honor Roll hospitals.

Position Overview
Using well honed analytical, conceptual, creative and interpersonal skills, Managers in the Strategy Group contribute to practice and client success in the following ways:
• Work with clients and KSA leaders to articulate strategic issues requiring attention. Develop processes and work plans for addressing these issues.
• Lead project teams through the development and execution of work plans by providing direction, timelines and budget management, facilitating data gathering and problem solving processes, and performing market, financial and other types of analyses.
• Collaborate with diverse clients and KSA staff to develop and present findings and recommendations.
• Coach and mentor clients and KSA consulting staff, write and deliver performance reviews and assist with recruiting new consultants.
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients. Assist with development and delivery of proposals and project presentations.
• Develop and share deep subject matter expertise regarding relevant industry segments. Develop and share thought leadership.
• Contribute to practice advancement.

Candidate Qualifications
• MHA, MBA or an advanced degree in a related discipline.
• 5 - 10 years of experience in a health care consulting firm or experience as a senior member of a hospital management team responsible for planning and business development.
• Distinctive academic performance and leadership experience.
• Energy and passion about serving clients, continual learning, professionalism and personal resilience.
• A desire and willingness to be an eventual owner of the firm.
• Keen problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated quantitative analysis.
• Proven process management skills.
• Demonstrated verbal and written interpersonal skills. Facilitation and negotiation skills.
• Extensive acumen with spreadsheet and presentation software.
• Ability to work in the U.S. with unlimited work authorization.

Managers can follow a career path that allows them to be promoted to the Senior Manager and Principal level by meeting quantitative and qualitative objectives for each level.

Location and Travel
Managers in the Health Care Practice are assigned to our Atlanta, Minneapolis, New York, Philadelphia, or San Francisco area offices. Travel to client sites averages 50 percent of business days.
