JOB SUMMARY:



The Family Life Consultant is a licensed professional who provides information, coaching, training, and education to military families and service members on issues concerning families and children. Provides on-site non-clinical problem solving counseling to families when other resources are not available and makes appropriate referrals and warm transfers to military and community resources according to the needs of families and service members.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides direct services to families and service members and/or support to family services agencies, groups, specialists and providers. Coordinates and plans service delivery under general direction.Develops behavioral and psychotherapeutic training and education programs and materials as well as researches and adapts readily available materials. Makes effective use of community resources/referrals, provides information and feedback on outreach efforts in support of families and service members, and provides tracking of services performed and referrals made.Conducts non-clinical needs assessments and counseling, and problem solving in topics such as child development, behavior management, and family trauma.Completes and submits all required documentation on time. Documents contacts made with outside agencies and health care professionals. Maintains accurate records, including: appointments, phone calls, referrals, and other significant information.Consults clinical supervision as needed.Participates in program development. Travel assignment or transfer to other facilities throughout geographical area may be required. REQUIREMENTS


REQUIREMENTS:




Education: Doctoral or Master's Degree in clinically relevant field from an accredited university required

License: Must be a current Licensed Clinical Social Worker at the independent level, or possess current state licensure as a psychologist

Experience: At least five years of experience working with families and children required



Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Effective organizational and oral/written communication skillsFamiliarity and personal connection with military family lifestyle and related issuesKnowledgeable of community resources/referralsDemonstrated appropriate knowledge, training and experience in specialty areas
