Experienced .NET Developer

The Developer/Analyst is responsible for continuing coding responsibilities for approximately 50% - 70% of their time. Additional responsibilities include the technical design of the system for a specific project and the implementation of that design. The technical design responsibilities typically start on a single platform with a focus on a single service. Over time, the Developer Analyst will broaden his or her skills to other platforms and/or other services. As a person progresses in this role, he or she will work with their manager to determine next steps for development in terms of becoming a Technical Architect, Systems Analyst, or Technical Project Manager. The specific responsibilities of the Developer Analyst fall into the following categories:
 Technical System Design. The Developer Analyst understands the project's vision and requirements and contributes to the creation of the integrated system design by building the high-level technical specifications for a particular platform and/or service solution. After all analysts on the project have agreed on the overall system design, the Developer Analyst performs a thorough impact analysis, and creates a detailed design for his or her specific piece(s). He or she submits the detailed design for review, then delivers the final design to the developer(s) for the coding to begin, or begins the coding him or herself.
 Review and Debugging Assistance. The Developer Analyst is the primary reviewer for the developer(s), checking and recommending changes to application code. He or she is also responsible for participating in the project test plan review. He or she also actively assists with project- and code-level problem solving, such as suggesting paths to explore when quality assurance analysts or developers encounter a debugging problem, and escalating urgent issues.
 Training and coaching. The Developer Analyst is a technical subject matter expert for his or her internal team, leveraging her/his knowledge in multiple ways. He or she coaches team members technically, about the system, and about workflow and processes (for example, bringing new team members up to speed). He or she works to build team members skills, whether informally or by arranging (and perhaps teaching) classes on more advanced skills.
 Technical Project Management. The Developer Analyst may provide project management for smaller projects or for pieces of a project. The Developer Analyst estimates tasks and resources required to design and build the code. Using detailed estimates from other project team members he or she builds a schedule that allows enough time for each stage of the process: design, development, configuration, testing, documentation, migration, and contingencies. The schedule accounts for workload and resource considerations and dependencies. The Developer Analyst is responsible for keeping the project team on schedule and meeting release deadlines and expectations. He or she notes scope changes and works with the Business Analyst and/or Project Sponsor to make appropriate business decisions and adjust resources and deadlines accordingly. He or she communicates team schedule and status information to the team and development group leader.
 Expert resource. He or she may act as an expert resource various teams on system functionality and approach, including solving systems operations issues, performance initiatives, and so on. He or she may also be a resource on the effective use of tools and processes.

Technical knowledge required for the role:
 Working knowledge of MS .Net 2.0
 Principles of object-oriented analysis & design
 Over 3 years of VB 6 and Web (ASP)
 Working knowledge of structured programming
 Working knowledge of database design and management
 2 to 3 years of .NET C# programming experience.
 Experience with Visual Studio 2005 and .Net 2.0 preferred.
 Advanced knowledge of code management and tools
 Working knowledge of testing process and tools
 Basic knowledge of requirements management and tools
 Knowledge of DB2 databases
