Database Developer

+Provide application development and maintenance support for current (i.e., REBACand RLI) as well as planned future (i.e., Resort and Appraisal)
+MS Access custom relational database applications within Business Specialties.+Database applications are used to track the following information:
+Current membership contact and professional licensing/designation
+Financial transactions (e.g., dues receipts)
+Members' continuing education and Members' correspondence and certification.+Provide automation support for enhancements pertaining to external applicationcommunications, for example, current NRDS and e-commerce interfaces, within andwithout Business Specialties.
+Perform troubleshooting and follow-up to outstanding issues.
+Automate data communications with outside vendors where appropriate.
+Support the generation of files as needed to, for example, refresh website content,create dues billing invoices, weekly HotSheet and other projects as assigned.
+Develop automated methodology for allowing staff to generate management reportsand customer correspondence.
+Respond to management request for system reports on both regular intervals and anad hoc basis, as necessary.
+Collaborate with external vendor staff for projects that include data sharing,expansion of current/existing technology or development of new communicationmethods to support advances in business strategies.
+Demonstrate working knowledge of HTML and other website-related design skill setsin supporting the design and development of web-based forms as POE (point-of-entry)database application alternatives.
+Assist in the coordination of annual REBAC and RLI dues billings processes (as wellas planned future database applications).
+Provide data test runs to ensure data integrity, including valid member mailing addressinformation, and work with external vendors to ensure smooth operation and agreed-
upon deadlines are met.
+Special projects as assigned.Job Requirements
-Bachelor's degree required with an emphasis in Computer Science preferred.
-Advanced application development experience with MS Access and MS officeautomation as well as demonstrable knowledge of Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)and SQL (Structured Query Language) necessary.
-Successful candidate will be requested to review actual application code (i.e., VBAand SQL), modified for the applicant's review, for purposes of identifying specificprogramming issues/errors.
-The ideal candidate will be capable of
(1) working independently while keeping the team abreast of progress
(2) understanding and implementing appropriate system architecture
(3) designing creative, control-oriented forms with sound error-trapping techniques
(4) developing innovative and logical application workflows and
(5) offering input on business rule development for processing daily work impacting theapplication.
Understanding the needs of the both internal and external user communities, soliciting(and positively responding to) their feedback and delivering automation-basedfunctionality consistent with specific user needs is deemed extremely important.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, essential.
