Data Center Build and Implementation Consultant - Midwest
Exciting opportunity for a qualified professional with experience delivering Data Center (DC) based initiatives to all major industry groups.DC Architecture Responsibilities:The ideal candidate will assist senior level architects in the completion of a high level conceptual architecture, assist in the completion of a detailed technical architecture (DTA) and transform that DTA into a requirements definition and detailed design, and perform the implementation of the solution at a Data Center or host site. Support the design and perform the implementation (Build phase) of the Data Center architecture. Assist in the development of strategies for utility computing and computing on demand. Assist in the development of Financial Models and Business Cases for the evaluation of Data Center alternative scenarios. Support Data Center solution and methodology development. Support the sales of professional services.Requirements:
Must have 4-5 years professional experience and expertise in Data Center (DC) planning and implementation (build).
Must have 4-5 years professional experience with Data Center computing architecture based on utility computing and computing-on-demand technologies using the following skill areas: blades, tiered storage, grid computing, virtualization, provisioning tools, clustering, and disaster recovery among other major skills.
Must have 4-5 years professional experience with DC facilities (Data Center HVAC, power, physical security and fire suppression skills) additional specific facilities-related architecture skills.
Candidates should live in the Midwest (IL, WI, MN, MI, OH, IN, MO) and be willing to travel up to 100% Monday through Friday.
Additional hands on experience with some of the following is preferred:
Developing blueprints, floor layouts, rack and stack diagrams, wiring and cable plans and other facilities-related documents describing the current state and future state environments.
Developing and implementing transition plans to migrate from the current state to future state.
Developing and implementing principles, policies, standards, guidelines, buy lists and other implementation considerations to assist in the overall IT infrastructure systems design and implementation activities.
Developing and implementing comprehensive Data Center operations manuals for large IT infrastructures.
Reviewing SLAs with vendors, 3rd party providers, host sites and manufacturers.
Managing Data Center trades, shop foremen, general contractors and IT-related contract specialists.
Implementing governance and syndication processes (ie., Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, etc).
Utility Computing and Computing-On-Demand (blades, grid, clustering, computing platforms, Linux, ...)
DC Consolidation and Cost Take-out
Tiered Services, Usage Groups, Charge-back model and financial metrics
