Position Title: Coverage Counsel

Travel Percentage: 10-25%

Job Summary:
Under limited direction, manages highly complex assignments requiring specialized knowledge in breadth and/or depth in area of expertise. Viewed as senior resource in given field for department and/or unit. Provides technical advice to lower level associates and other functional areas. Assigns cases to outside counsel and evaluates their performance. Responsible for maintaining control of files and litigation costs. Develops, prepares and implements coverage/extracontractual litigation strategy. May attend pertinent trial, but is not attorney of record. Provides legal counsel to underwriters and claims personnel on policy language.Provide training support on coverage issues to claims personnel.

Job Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent

7 or more years of related experience.

1. JD from ABA approved law school and national/local Bar admission.
2. Seven years experience as attorney with significant coverage exposure.
3. Coverage/extracontractual litigation experience desired with experience in insurance industry claims or underwriting.
4. PC literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, Lotus Notes, Access and CWS and significant knowledge of Lexis or Westlaw.
5. Must be well organized with good analytical skills, excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
