Consulting Division Network Engineer (Ft. Lauderdale)
Provides local coordination, communication and leadership for project / solutions, including design and implementation / deployment of various networking technologies within an HCA Division. The individual will define scope for Division projects and ensure that all deliverables and standards (both technical and procedural) are met. In many cases, responsible for personally designing, implementing and supporting various networking technologies and solutions for HCA acute care facilities and associated remote clinics and office buildings within the Division; in other cases, responsible for coordinating a virtual team of resources to accomplish these tasks. In all cases this individual will be responsible for actively facilitating communication between the Division and HCA Corporate IT&S.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Consulting Divisional Network Engineer knowledge level / skill set of data networking technologies and services:
Analytical and design ability for network needs and solutions Business case proposals and analysis of the technologies, financial and project plans. Written and oral presentations of projects, business case and technology assessments. Ensuring data networking tools and processes meet business needs and strategies. Perform contract reviews and define requirements to mitigate HCA business risks. Write RFPs and perform review assessments, vendor recommendations and evaluations. Participate in standards / policy definitions and assessments. Management of technology operational model builds and work flows within the Division. Conduct strategic contingency planning from a network standpoint for the Division. Effective coordination of work / projects and resource allocations for network activities. In particular, an immediate responsibility of this position will be to actively engage in a multi-month, corporate-driven uplift of network technologies, equipment, and services within the division. Vendor management, Service Level Agreement (SLA) management and SLA definition for key network vendors unique to the Division. Project coordination experience across multi (20+) large/medium/small concurrent projects. Excellent Incident / Problem Management skill set. Strategic Division network management planning and new technology assessments. Financial analysis and budgeting capabilities, especially with regard to telecommunications expenses. Project work load and resource allocation / prioritization. Network consultations with business partners, customers and vendors. Proficient with PC back-office applications and other business applications. Ensure continuity of Network Service Management plans with other IT&S infrastructure departments. Active participation in periodic conference calls, as well as Division- and corporate-sponsored technical seminars and planning sessions with the network virtual team.
Performs the above competencies under Director-level management and general supervision.
REQUIREMENTS
Consulting Divisional Network Engineer knowledge level / skill set of data networking technologies and services:OSI Layer 1 (LAN/WAN/MAN) physical layer technologies, Layer 2 technologies (including Switched VLANs, spanning tree, and WLANs) and Layer 3 technologies (including OSPF and BGP)Strong knowledge of the Cisco product line and capabilitiesStrong understanding of telecom industry and data network service offeringsStrong understanding of network security technologies (firewalls, VPN concentrators, & ACLs)Exceptional troubleshooting abilitiesNetwork analysis skills (Wildpackets, Sniffer, etc.)Capacity planning experience (Concord, Netscount, NetQoS, etc.
Requires seven years networking/telecommunications experience, CCNA or CCDP certification (preferring CCIE written and relevant network security certifications - CISSP, CCSP, etc.)
Daily work environment is a normal office layout, including regular use of PC and telephone, various meetings, etc.
Position may require periodic after hours work, on-call rotations, and some travel within the Division and to corporate.
Communication and leadership skills are strongly desired to maintain positive business relations with employees, customers, business partners, peers and other IT&S personnel.
