This position is to serve as a primary consultant or project manager for small to mid-sized clients or for complex, multi-disciplinary or multi-office assignments within H&W practice. In addition, to support existing clients employee benefit programs and assist in the development of business and new client relationships.ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Primary responsibilities of this position to include: Growth and maintenance of Aon Consulting’s business by functioning as the primary consultant or project manager for small to mid-sized clients. May have responsibility to serve as the lead manager for 6 to 8 clients/projects. May provide project management oversight for major or complex assignments within H&W practice requiring the management of multi-disciplinary or multi-location assignments. Possess a thorough understanding of the H&W practice, and participates as needed on task forces and special project teams. Possess H&W expertise that is recognized by colleagues and clients. Specific areas of expertise needed for this position include but are not limited to (the following items will need to be tailored to specific position; could include such things as): Benefit Plan Design; Funding Arrangements and costing; Managed Care & Consumer-Driven Plans; Underwriting & Financial Analysis; H&W Technical Analysis & Issues; Vendor Meetings and Analysis; Elective Benefit Programs; Able to identify and possibly generate new business opportunities and/or additional work with existing clients in practice/line of service/product specialty by understanding the needs of the client. In addition, has a basic understanding or all of Aon Consulting’s major practice areas and is learning to effectively communicate Aon’s capabilities to new and existing clients. Interacts effectively with high level client managers and works to understand clients’ objectives and concerns so as to begin to be able to position all of Aon’s services effectively. In addition, works closely with the more senior account managers in order to observe and learn more about building client relationships and effective account management and growth. Proactively identifies and/or pursues additional business opportunities both within existing client base as well as with new clients. Works to try and understand clients’ objectives/needs from a service perspective. Establishes effective communication channels with clients; keeping them informed throughout each phase of the project and identifying potential problems in order and then working to reach a quick resolution. Manages all of “the details” of the client relationship including “checking in” periodically, effective meeting management, adhering to schedules, and providing personal attention to client issues when they arise. Serves as lead consultant for all phases of a moderate scale project. Builds confidence and trust among project team members; aligning team member skills and knowledge with client expectations. Able to establish and monitor performance expectations for other team members as may be required. Possess a basic understanding of financial measures and Aon financial procedures and systems. Is able to provide client with detailed explanations of billable work done and billing procedures. Assists with the preparation and presentation of large case proposals and presentations and provides peer review for others within the H&W practice.
Job Requirements
5 to 7 yrs. Group H&W benefits consulting, brokerage, and Underwriting experience. Client Service Orientation Takes personal responsibility for meeting client needs and resolving client issues; Approaches problem solving opportunities from both the client’s and from Aon’s perspective. Takes action (through research and questions) so as to better understand the client’s organization and ensure the delivery of quality customer service.Business Communication Conveys technical and non-technical information to colleagues and clients in a clear, concise and understandable manner; Develops colleague/client communications that are of sufficient detail, easily understood, and accurate. Developing and Maintaining Relationships Develops relationships with people at several levels across client organizations; Able to establish strong internal and external networks with people within the industry or profession. Ethical Behavior Adheres to professional standards and ethics in one’s field and demonstrates the highest level of integrity and honesty in all interactions; Is open and honest in communications with others and takes responsibility for own mistakes or customer service problems. Analytical Thinking Systematically tests and eliminates potential explanations for a problem and makes sound decisions or recommendations based upon review and evaluation of information; Able to identify the most critical issue in solving a problem; Recognizes when more information is needed in order to make a decision and will delay action if necessary. Resource Management Establishes priorities for multiple projects based on timeliness, importance, and urgency of project completion. Ensures that all work obstacles are addressed so as to minimize wasted time and is able to reprioritize projects as required. Project Management Able to scope and plan resources and budget requirements for all projects; Establishes and manages project objectives.REQUIRED EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree (Insurance or Risk Management/Business degree preferred) or equivalent work experience.
