JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Compensation Consultant reports to the Director of Corporate Compensation with a dotted line report to a VP of HR supporting client groups.
The Sr. Compensation Consultant is responsible for providing competitive compensation, expertise, research, advice and support as well as accurate and excellent customer service to the VPs of HR and their staff, as well as Staffing, to enable the company to attract and retain top talent. This position requires a true consultative skill set with a customer service focus that seeks to understand, get others’ perspectives and input and asks probing questions to get below the surface of issues and respond appropriately. The Senior Compensation Consultant will also support the administration of Corporate Compensation programs including compensation policies, bonus programs, annual merit and equity programs, etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Drives thinking with pro-active and in-depth technical expertise; provides accurate, timely and customer focused services to client groups. Adheres to a framework of policies and procedures to ensure consistent handling of compensation matters such as developing position descriptions, position evaluations, cross-functional implications, base salary increase methodologies, performance bonus programs, stock plan administration, etc. Provides market analysis and compensation recommendations for client groups to ensure competitive pay and retention. Provides administration of Health Net's total compensation/reward programs to support the organization's strategic objectives and link pay to performance - including base pay, variable pay and equity programs. Provides corporate compensation expertise, market analysis, and best practice research. Stays abreast of federal, state, and local compensation and payroll laws and regulations and ensures corporate compliance. Recommends compensation process and systems improvements for on-going excellence and effective administration. Coordinates with Legal, Benefits, HRIS and Associate Service Center functions.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Human Resources or relevant field of study.
Certification/License:
Must have or be working toward Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) status.
Experience:
Five years professional level compensation experience including job descriptions, job evaluations, completing salary surveys, establishing pay lines/salary grades, job families, career ladders and related compensation policies and procedures.
Experience developing, analyzing and administering incentive plans, required; sales commission plan and healthcare compensation experience is beneficial.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Demonstrated consulting skills (inquiry, seeks to understand and resolve issues, customer focused). Excellent PC skills including Excel, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint required; experience with PeopleSoft HRIS and e-Prism desired. Business acumen and understanding of Human Resources operating environment. Expertise in financial analysis, statistical analyses and spreadsheet modeling. Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentation); ability to work well and ascertain confidence and credibility with Human Resources professionals and their business clients. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. High level of integrity and ability to encourage open, candid trusting relationships. Ability to go above and beyond responsibilities to achieve greater results. Collaborates as a team player; has the ability to create consensus, influence change and move others toward a common goal. Ability to multi-task, embrace ambiguity and change, recognize trends and identify systemic approaches to compensation planning and administration.
