nVision Cold Fusion Developer Job Profile

Purpose of the Position:

The purpose of the position is to provide analysis, design, development and maintenance for the NIH nVision development effort. The NIH nVision is an enterprise-wide web reporting and analysis application that brings administrative and financial data to the desktop for direct access by NIH staff.



Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Ø The candidate will work with the client in joint application development (JAD) sessions to identify user requirements during the development and enhancement of BI applications.

Ø The candidate will participate and be involved in analyzing user requirements and preparing user requirements and other related documentation

Ø The candidate will present application prototype demonstrations.

Ø The candidate will work with the Back-End, DBA and Front-End development teams in identifying business rules and user reporting needs, and will develop appropriate reports to meet these requirements.

Ø The candidate will participate in the design, development, testing (Pilot, Government Acceptance Test), deployment and maintenance of the DW application throughout the development lifecycle.

Ø The candidate will be responsible for the development and updating of all user and system documentation.

Ø The candidate will assist the client (NIH) staff in the technical operation and customization of the NIH nVision applications.

Ø The candidate will develop an understanding of the client's business process in order to develop applications utilizing the Business Intelligence tools

Ø A desire to develop more technical skills related to data warehousing, such as data modeling or improving current processes, developing/improving methodologies, would definitely be a plus.



Core Skills/Experience candidate MUST have:

A minimum of 3+ yrs of Cold Fusion development experience
- Strong VERBAL and WRITTEN communication skills

Experience writing user and system documentation
Strong presentation skills
Strong Analytical skills
- Desire and ability to quickly learn the client's business processes

- Experience on Business Object BI suite or Similar report development tool

- Must have experience and strong knowledge of the System Development Life Cycle (SDL)

- Ability to learn other Business Intelligence Suites

- Must be familiar or have experience/ knowledge of DBMS (Oracle)

- Must have completed or have experience on at least one application development lifecycle

- Experience with Microsoft Office (MS Project, MS Excel, MS Word)



Additional Skills/Experience desired but not required:

- Experience using Business Object BI suite or Similar report development tool

Experience or familiarity with the Cognos BI Suite including (Cognos Impromptu Client and Administrator, Transformer, PowerPlay Client, Access Manager Administration, Cognos Script Editor, Scheduler, Cognos Server Administration including PowerPlay Enterprise Server, Impromptu Web Reports, Upfront, and Configuration Manager)
- Familiarity with Data Warehouse concepts including Star Schema or ER Modeling

- Familiarity with ERWin modeling tool.
