Position Title: Claims Counsel, Environmental

Travel Percentage: Minimum

Job Summary:
The ideal candidate will handle environmental liability claims (1st and 3rd party) of moderate to high value and complexity to prompt and equitable conclusion. Under limited direction, will work within broad limits and authority on highly complex assignments requiring specialized knowledge of liability claims. Will investigate and maintain claims, determine liability, secure information, review coverages, and settle claims. This position is viewed as key resource in the department and provides technical advice to lower level associates and other functional areas

Job Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree required. JD a plus. 2-5 years of environmental claims experience a plus. Will also consider other insurance experience, insurance coverage litigation experience or experience working in a law firm that handles environmental regulatory work. Fundamental knowledge of the insurance industry, claims, and the insurance legal and regulatory environment a plus. A functional and developing knowledge of the legal statutes and procedures a plus. An understanding of claims handling specific to environmental liability a plus. Light travel required.
