REQUIREMENTS
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Candidates in the Baltimore, Metro DC area will be considered for this position.The Oncology Data Management Consultant is responsible for managing and/or providing all data management services as it relates to the client Cancer Registry Program. Travel is not required for this assignment.EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
·Certified Cancer Registrar (CTR).
·College level courses in Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology (degree in allied health field preferred).
·Three (3) years supervisory experience in an ACoS-approved hospital based cancer registry.
·Required Oncology skills: abstracting, case identification, AcoS survey preparation, at least one Cancer Registry software system, follow up.
·Preferred Oncology skills: Program oversight and management of Cancer Registry department experience
·Knowledge of the Commission on Cancer Standards Vol. I and II.
·Knowledge of the North American Association of Central Cancer Registries Standards.
·Direct experience with American College of Surgeons Survey under new standards.
·Hands-on abstracting experience with 1.25 cases per hour productivity and 97% accuracy rate.
·Knowledge and experience of cancer registry software program(s).
·Experience with Microsoft Office.
·Must be detail oriented and have the ability to work independently.·Understanding of statistical analysis report generation and interpretation.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises designated Oncology staff based on client need.LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals and small groups.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Duties may require bending, twisting and lifting of materials up to 25 lbs.

Daily contact with internal staff and clients to receive and/or provide informationESSENTIAL DUTIES:
·Manages Cancer Registry function and/or provides services after establishing baseline operating status in compliance with government standards.
·Monitors and evaluates the activities of the Cancer Registry and provides management guidance, on the job training and/or retraining to ensure operational efficiency and adherence to policies and procedures.
·Ensures that all Cancer Registry activities are operating in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
·Interfaces with various hospital departments to ensure that cancer-related information is available for the Oncology Data Center.
·Ensures all Cancer Registry functions are maintained in accordance with·the Commission on Cancer and State Cancer Registry requirements.
·Supervises the daily workflow.
·Coordinates physician QA review of Cancer Registry abstracting.
·Reports data as required to the State Central Registry and the National Cancer Data Base.
·Provides proper orientation and training within the department.
·Participates in interview process for all new on-site hires.
·Conducts performance evaluations.
·Prepares, coordinates and assist in all Cancer Program-related Meetings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES CONTINUED:·Ensures that all meetings are in accordance with Commission on Cancer guidelines.
·Follows through with the recommendations initiated by the Committee.
·Guides the Cancer Committee in the planning and conducting of Quality Improvement and Enhancement Studies.
·Designs narrative and statistical reports for appropriate administrative and medical staff for use in program planning, development and end-result studies.
·Responds to data requests and generation of outcomes reports and interpretation.
·Prepares and assist in publishing the Cancer Program Annual Report.
·Submits daily abstracting productivity sheets and weekly status reports.
·Maintains Action Plan/CoC Compliance Table and submit monthly to Regional Manager.
·Participates in monthly CTR conference call.
·Participates in Precyse QI programs., maintaining appropriate accuracy and productivity levels.
·Maintains certification and NCRA membership, as well as appropriate state association memberships.
·Supports Precyse's Compliance Program by demonstrating adherence to all relevant compliance policies and procedures as evidenced by in-service attendance and daily practice; notifying management when there is a compliance concern or incident; demonstrating knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and Security Regulations as evidenced by appropriate handling of patient information; promoting confidentiality and using discretion when handling patient information.
