Description:
The Department of Pediatrics has an exciting opportunity for a Counselor. Under the clinical oversight of the Care Clinic Director, the Counselor position provides psychosocial assessment, treatment services, and referral for children, families who have been affected by child abuse, domestic violence, and related social, emotional stress. Primary responsibilities include:
* Identifies and assesses client's psychosocial condition and needs, and determines course of therapeutic treatment.
* Is responsible for diagnosis, treatment plan, assessment of family needs, communication with collaborating agencies, and assistance with appropriate referrals,
* Conducts clinically- based individual, conjoint, and family therapy sessions.
* Provides preventative, protective, or supportive services to clients who are in threatening situations detrimental to their well-being.
* Participates in inter-disciplinary teaching, training and supervision.
* Identifies, collaborates and advocates with other providers to develop, implement and evaluate outcome-driven service plans.
* Meets clinical and administrative accountability requirements.
* Other duties as assigned.
Normal hours of the Clinic are 8:30 - 7:00PM Monday - Friday. Part-time hours are negotiated with the Clinic Care Director and time outside of regular business hours is rarely required.
REQUIREMENTS
Requires an LCSW-C license and Master's degree in Social Work or an LCPC with a Master's in Counseling or Psychology and one year of relevant experience rendering clinical therapy in a public or private social service agency (two years of experience preferred). The qualified candidate will have experience and training in providing individual, group and family therapy; knowledge of child and family development and interest in working in a academic setting. Must have excellent organizational and diagnostic skills, as well as experience and interest in working with families from diverse ethnic, racial, and socio-economic backgrounds
