Business Leader, Counsel (Part-time)

Major Accountabilities:

MasterCard International is searching for a dedicated attorney with extensive contract experience to join its Law Department on a part-time basis at its World Headquarters location in Purchase, NY in order to provide legal support to MasterCard's North America Acceptance department, which enters into strategic agreements with merchants in the US and Canada. This challenging position requires an experienced candidate who is familiar with the fast and diverse pace of an in-house counsel position. The candidate must have experience drafting and negotiating a wide range of contracts and counseling clients with respect to business transactions in practice areas such as: strategic commercial alliances, promotions, marketing, sponsorships and outsourcing. The qualified candidate will report to the lead counsel for MasterCard's Global Marketing and Acceptance operations, and must be a self-starter who is flexible and able to multi-task while working in a team-environment. This candidate must also have the ability to think and act both strategically and tactically with respect to the legal needs of his/her internal clients in order to help them meet their goals. This candidate also must be able to negotiate on behalf of the company in complex, commercially sensitive transactions. Above all, the successful candidate must be highly intelligent, have excellent business and legal judgment, and be 'solutions' oriented.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience Required:

Qualified candidates must have a law degree, be licensed to practice in one or more states, including New York, strong written and oral communications skills, and solid commercial transactions experience. Five or more years of legal experience preferred; in-house experience a plus.
