This is an in-house position for an experienced litigation attorney with a minimum of five years experience in handling risk management, medical malpractice and civil litigation matters. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, the Associate General Counsel will serve as litigation support counsel for Gundersen Lutheran, Inc. including its affiliates ("Gundersen Lutheran"). The Associate General Counsel will represent Gundersen Lutheran in legal proceedings and administrative hearings and/or supervise outside counsel in such proceedings.Education/Learning Experience:
Required: Graduation from an accredited law school.
Desired: Post-graduate education with focus on risk management, medical malpractice and civil litigation matters.Work Experience:
Required: Minimum 5-7 years of experience handling risk management, medical malpractice and civil litigation matters.
Desired: Nursing degree and/or experience in a health care setting.Skills/Knowledge:
Required: Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and negotiating skills. Ability to perform complex legal research and provide competent legal advice. Detailed knowledge of federal and state laws applicable to healthcare. Knowledge of judicial and administrative agency systems and procedures. Excellent computer and typewriting skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.Licenses/Certifications:
Required: Licensed in the State of Wisconsin.
Desired: Licensed in the State of Minnesota or Iowa.Physical Requirements/Demands of the Position: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
