This position can be based in El Segundo, CA, Irvine, CA or Lakewood, CO.

JOB SUMMARY:


Provides legal advice and expertise to PALS department, DaVita Clinical Research, DaVita RX and other ancillary businesses.


Negotiates and drafts various agreements with pharmaceutical vendors, including, but not limited to, purchase agreements, research grant applications, clinical trial agreements, and licensing agreements.


Provide legal advice and counsel to Senior Management on business strategies related to pharmaceutical manufacturer and other vendor relationships.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:


J.D. Degree with in-house legal department or similar health law experience


Significant experience with healthcare fraud and abuse, pharmaceutical reimbursement, commercial and antitrust law, as well as FDA regulations relating to sales, marketing promotion and distribution of pharmaceutical and biotech products is required


Strong communication skills, both written and oral


Is assertive and a self-starter


Has experience managing others


Can work independently

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Serves as primary legal resource for the PALS Department, DaVita Clinical Research, DaVita RX, and other ancillary businesses.


Develops resolutions to highly complex legal issues and disputes and assists in implementation of solutions.


Advises the businesses on a broad range of legal issues having low to high impact, including but not limited to, contracting, health care regulatory matters, pharmaceutical billing regulations, and others as demanded by the needs of the business.


Coordinates and oversees the work product of company attorneys, company paralegals, outside counsel and other legal support staff.


Prepares, negotiates, reviews and revises complex legal documents.


Works with Compliance department in developing, and assists with implementing, compliance policies and procedures related to DaVita’s relationships with pharmaceutical vendors, including requirements under DVA Renal Healthcare, Inc.’s (a subsidiary of DaVita Inc.) Corporate Integrity Agreement.
