Application Support Specialist

Our client is a historic Nonprofit located in lower Manhattan. They are currently seeking an Application Support Specialist for an open-ended consulting assignment that probably will go perm. The Applications Support Specialist will provide application & software support to all users.

You will also be responsible for identifying & troubleshooting all unresolved issues in the Help Desk area. The Specialist’s will also maintain the existing/new software applications; as well as identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving application and systems issues.

DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBLITIES:
*Support local and remote users, resolve application and software issues.
*Assist in the planning, designing, development, and deployment of new applications and the enhancement of existing applications.
*Ensure compatibility and interoperability of custom and 3rd party applications and software systems.
*Develop system design proposals and project plans.
*Write documentation for all custom built software and applications.
*Train end-users on modified existing and new systems.
*Review and maintain all software security related issues

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
*Minimum of 3 years experience in an applications support role
*Minimum of 5 years experience with the Microsoft Office suite, especially Access, Excel, and Word (VBA experience a plus)
*Expert MS Access skills
*Experience with object-oriented design and at least one of the Visual Studio 6 or Visual Studio.NET programming languages
*Database design, development, and SQL experience (preferably MS SQL Server or MS Access
*Operating systems administration experience, especially with Windows 2000/XP/2003 Server and Mac OS X
*Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in computer science, information sciences, or a related field. Bachelor’s Degree in an information technology field is highly desirable.
*Strong customer service orientation and excellent written and oral communication skills
*Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment
*Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
*Ability and willingness to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
*Willingness to work additional hours when necessary.

PLUS:
*Experience with T-SQL
*Crystal Reports experience
*General knowledge of real estate financial applications such as Dyna, Argus, and FAS. *Yardi Experience
