Application Support

Financial Application Support role with leading investment bank in New York. The role involves supports a time critical, automated trade process processing system for clients within the Equities Prime Services area, securities lending in particular. The successful candidate will be support an in-house built and vendor supplied trading systems. We are specifically looking for a candidate with good communication skills, self motivated and willing to grow in the position.
Although this position is primarily Application Support it is essential to have technical skills. The below UNIX and SQL knowledge is essential for the role.The in-house built application is a Java based front-end trading GUI. Previous investment banking experience is desirable but not a must as on-site training into business products will be given. The applicant must be willing to learn within a fast paced environment and happy to deal with varying levels of users from junior through to senior management.This is a perfect position for mid level person who is looking for an exciting and challenging position.
REQUIREMENTS
Unix Requirements:•File System navigation (moving around directories)
•File permissions (group, user, other), CHMOD
•Handy commands - copy, mv, rm, ps -ef, grep, find, tail, more, wc etc•VI editor – Basic navigations in scripts (not scripting but reading)
•Checking Processor utilization on server or diskspace•User environment variables
SQL knowledge:•Selects (inner and outer joins)
•Updates
•Deletes
•Inserts
•Reading stored procedures (not writing)
•Primary Keys on tables
