The marketing function within American Funds is growing in importance through both the implementation of pure marketing programs as well as through providing programs that compliment the sales side of the organization. The team is looking to expand its marketing expertise, especially in the direct marketing arena. This new position will be responsible for:
Designing and maintaining cost-effective direct marketing programs, monitoring results, and adapting as necessary.
Developing and maintaining a lead generation program.
Developing and maintaining other targeted marketing programs as needed.Details:
Work with Marketing, Business Intelligence, and Communications groups to design and implement direct marketing programs directed towards financial advisers. Influence the "creative" side of development through close interaction with the communications department.
Utilize dealer and channel information, industry trends, migration patterns and internal data warehouse to develop an in-depth understanding of trends, behaviors and nuances of the financial adviser audience.
Work with Business Intelligence and IT Systems groups to create business and systems requirements and develop long-term solutions and platforms necessary to support direct marketing programs.
Manage vendor relationships and monitor programs to ensure quality and cost control.
Maintain direct marketing budget.
Utilize both mail and e-mail methods for execution. Integrate with organization's overall messaging plan.
Develop lead generation program that singles out advisers with signs of potential to increase sales. Pass leads to the sales force (field and phone associates) and integrate into special marketing programs. Monitor activity of leads and track success.
Test effectiveness of predictive modeling used for lead generation and adjust as needed.
Put measurement methods in place to test against program goals. Test customer satisfaction, awareness of tools and resources and likelihood to migrate to higher selling levels.
Leverage and implement permission-based programs where appropriate.
Create other targeted marketing programs as needed.Qualifications
Superior organizational, project management, oral and written communication, analytical and interpersonal skills are critical to this position. An in-depth understanding and working knowledge of business analytics and direct marketing techniques are required. Seeking an individual with experience in both the creative aspect of developing new programs as well as providing the technical skills necessary for execution (list generation, tracking analytics, etc.). College degree plus five to six years direct marketing experience required, preferably in the business-to-business marketplace.
