The Actuarial Analyst I provides basic actuarial technical services to support pricing, rate filing, rate implementation, reserving, and data gathering activities that are employed to create actuarial analysis to support Assurant Health operations.



Provide technical support services relating to pricing and valuation activities. Perform existing spreadsheet or table data entry. Update and run models and programs according to detailed instructions.



Perform data gathering, reporting, and analysis. Update previously proven reports, performing changes that have been reviewed by other actuarial personnel. Determine, with assistance from other actuarial personnel, how available data may fulfill the information need in question.



Provide support services to provide for rate implementation. Follow specifications written by other actuarial personnel, communicate algorithm changes, and verify system table accuracy. Perform basic pre-release testing and document test results. Perform basic post-release analysis and reconciliation.



Perform administrative duties to support compliance activities, addressing state filings and reform requirements. Update documentation and file simple changes. Research legislation and regulations, as required.
REQUIREMENTS


Qualifications include:



Requires an Associate Degree in Business Administration or a related field or equivalent work experience and LOMA certification. It is desirable incumbents to have attained specific academic training in statistics, mathematics, or a related discipline

Requires basic knowledge of SSL and a variety of other systems and software packages.

Requires general knowledge of actuarial principles and methodologies.

Requires general knowledge of company products, systems, and procedures.

Requires knowledge of insurance terminology.

 



Requires basic analytic ability to provide actuarial support.





The job incumbent provides basic actuarial/statistical support services in the assigned product line.



This position may come in contact with protected health information on a regular or extensive basis. The nature of this job requires the incumbents to review and to use protected health information for the purposes of performing the accountabilities of this position.



The incumbents will take appropriate steps to ensure that access to and use of the protected health information is limited to that needed to adequately perform their job responsibilities and accountabilities.



The job incumbent must perform duties under deadline pressure in a fast-paced, high volume, office work environment.
