Academic Advisor - School of Management

This position is responsible for effectively advising students on university policies and procedures, coordinating information, and providing academic guidance designed to assist them with the degree requirements at Walden University.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

' Assists students in understanding and completing Walden's degree requirements.
' Coordinates and monitors each student's progress on a consistent basis.
' Assists students in enrollment of academic courses.
' Participates in the outcomes assessment and continuous improvement initiatives for programs and school.
' Other duties as assigned by Dean or Program Director.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:

In addition to the performance of the essential functions, this position will be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions.

' Work in a results-oriented, team based environment
' Read, listen, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in order to prepare correspondence and provide clear and meaningful instructions, guidance and counseling to staff members, faculty and students.
' Demonstrate proficiency in operating a Windows-based platform and learn Walden's administrative database.
REQUIREMENTS

' Excellent analytical, problem solving, communication, detail-oriented, and organizational skills.
' Creative, innovative, able to work independently.
' Ability to travel as business needs require
' Experience in online distance-learning environment a plus.
' Experience working with graduate students in an educational environment

Education: Master's degree required.
