Academic Advisor

The academic advisor is the primary point of contact between the prospective student and the College. Academic advising involves the communication of accurate information regarding degree programs, courses, policies and procedures. This specific appointment deals with part-time adult students enrolled in programs delivered on campus during evening hours. The position requires an individual who is willing to work at least two evenings per week after 5 PM and who can handle information that is sensitive and confidential in nature.

Advise students on general academic matters, such as program requirements, transferability of credits, course prerequisites, etc. Advise students on University and College policies and procedures. Evaluate student transcripts for transfer credit. Work closely with Drexel's undergraduate admissions staff to obtain in a timely manner admissions decisions for applicants. Provide assistance, as needed, for registering in courses. Advise/coach students to help them reach their academic goals and complete their academic program. Assist in clearing students for graduation. Develop and maintain appropriate schedules and reports for Goodwin College. Update and maintain student records.
REQUIREMENTS
Required: Bachelors degree. Two to three years of experience in post-secondary student advising. Exceptional customer service aptitude. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other common personal computer applications.

Preferred: Experience advising adult learners. Knowledge of Banner student record management system, and Hyperion report system.
